Demon_ Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 (edited) Can someone tell me exactly what folders I can copy from my old PC to my new one to salvage my control settings if this is even possible? Also, should I unactivate my old DCS installation before I install and activate my new one or does it not make any difference. Thanks https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/downloads/documentation/dcs_world_activation_guide_en/ If StarForce detects changes to your computer hardware/software as described below, an activation will be required. An activation will be required if the hardware/software changes exceed 12 points as rated below: CPU ID: 13 Windows PID: 3 Computer Name: 3 Hard drive volume serial number: 3 MAC address: 6 RAM amount: 6 Edited February 3, 2017 by Demon_ Attache ta tuque avec d'la broche.
BitMaster Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 Thats somehow not correct. I recently got a replacement board + new CPU and only the MiG21 had license issues. All other modules / StarForce did not bother at all. Strange I have to admit, as the CPU alone is 13 points, + MAC Address with 6 points. SF needs an overhaul...just my 2 cents Gigabyte Aorus X570S Master - Ryzen 5900X - Gskill 64GB 3200/CL14@3600/CL14 - Sapphire Nitro+ 7800XT - 4x Samsung 980Pro 1TB - 1x Samsung 870 Evo 1TB - 1x SanDisc 120GB SSD - Heatkiller IV - MoRa3-360LT@9x120mm Noctua F12 - Corsair AXi-1200 - TiR5-Pro - Warthog Hotas - Saitek Combat Pedals - Asus XG27ACG QHD 180Hz - Corsair K70 RGB Pro - Win11 Pro/Linux - Phanteks Evolv-X
BitMaster Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 Is 7700K way better than 4790K (4.4GHz) today? I was hoping to hold on to it 2 more years. I dont think you should upgrade if you own a 4790k that does oc well. Use Passmark v9 and it's IPC test to see how well you score. Anything beyond the 2500 marker is good, beyond 2700 is excellent. Yours should be above 2700 when oc'ed 4.6 or better. * I would still run my Sandy 2600k if it hadnt fried, seriously ! 1k€ expense for 10% more ooomps is a BAD DEAL ! jvanhoog Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 @MileHyRyder. The control settings are in your saved games folder. Nice build!

Do I just copy and paste the folders named after the planes under Config/Input folder? Phanteks Enthoo Evolv ATX Glass, Asus Rog Maximus IX Hero Z270, Intel Core I7 - 7700K, Gskill TridentZ RGB 32GB DDR4 3200, MSI GTX 1080 Gaming X 8G, Samsung 960 EVO M.2 500GB, Seagate BarraCuda 3TB, NZXT Kraken X62, Corsair RM750X, Windows 10 Home, Asus ROG PG348Q 34” 3440 x 1440 100hz curved IPS G-Sync monitor, Saitek X52 Pro Hotas, TrackIR V5
MileHiRyder Posted February 7, 2017 Author Posted February 7, 2017 Thanks. Do I just copy and paste the folders named after the planes under Config/Input folder? This didn't work for me. Any suggestions? What a major PITA if I have to reprogram all my control settings for each aircraft. Phanteks Enthoo Evolv ATX Glass, Asus Rog Maximus IX Hero Z270, Intel Core I7 - 7700K, Gskill TridentZ RGB 32GB DDR4 3200, MSI GTX 1080 Gaming X 8G, Samsung 960 EVO M.2 500GB, Seagate BarraCuda 3TB, NZXT Kraken X62, Corsair RM750X, Windows 10 Home, Asus ROG PG348Q 34” 3440 x 1440 100hz curved IPS G-Sync monitor, Saitek X52 Pro Hotas, TrackIR V5
MileHiRyder Posted February 7, 2017 Author Posted February 7, 2017 This didn't work for me. Any suggestions? What a major PITA if I have to reprogram all my control settings for each aircraft. Figured it out with help from another thread. Turns out that the new PC names the controller .lua files differently than the old one so just copying the input folders over won't work. To fix, you first have to save at least one button for each aircraft for each controller in the newly installed sim. This generates an input file for the aircraft and an appropriate name for the controller .lua files. You then rename your old established controller .lua files the same as the newly generated name and replace the new file with your renamed old one. You need to do this for each aircraft. Takes a little time but beats the heck out of reprogramming everything. I noticed that you still have to manually establish any "modifier" buttons you might use in the sim (I did this when I was saving a setting to generate the new .lua files) and there might be other tweaks required I haven't discovered yet. I'm now testing the new rig with a smile on my face so thanks for the input folks. Phanteks Enthoo Evolv ATX Glass, Asus Rog Maximus IX Hero Z270, Intel Core I7 - 7700K, Gskill TridentZ RGB 32GB DDR4 3200, MSI GTX 1080 Gaming X 8G, Samsung 960 EVO M.2 500GB, Seagate BarraCuda 3TB, NZXT Kraken X62, Corsair RM750X, Windows 10 Home, Asus ROG PG348Q 34” 3440 x 1440 100hz curved IPS G-Sync monitor, Saitek X52 Pro Hotas, TrackIR V5
pegasus1 Posted February 7, 2017 Posted February 7, 2017 I'm using an i7 2600k with 1080 with great results firestrike bench 17233 i my cpu watercooled and overclocked at 4.6ghz remember most titles including DCS only use 1 and a bit cpu cores and the i7 2600 has very good single core performance (benchmarks are good at utilising more cores) the 6700k has also great single core performance, do get a good cooler for it so you can run some overclock I run a 2700k at 4.9ghz and it is not holding the game back at 1440p, my overclocked (and watercooled) 780gtx is getting hammered. all 3GB of VRAM is in use on 2.0. Il be replacing my 780gtx with a 1080Ti once they are out but il keep my 2700k and 16gb of DDR3 2133mhz RAM.
