seastate Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 I've read the various forum posts but am still a little confused. I have one monitor at the moment and wanted to add two little ones either side as MFCD screens. I dont need the MFCD buttons - just the screens. I read that the easiest waywas with USB monitors but then I read that was terrible! I've only got 1 graphics card and it's got a spare 1 x HDMI 1 x DP and 1 x DVI. I'm not a computer expert but can muddle through, so what would be the best way to connect extra monitors? What cheap monitors would you recommend (I'm in EU, well UK but thats a different story:mad:)? Is it easy to set up? Thanks guys
Necroscope Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 I read that the easiest way was with USB monitors but then I read that was terrible! This sounds strange. I got 3 USB monitors and they working as charm for A-10, Ka-50 and Helios. Всех убью, один останусь!
Brewnix Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 (edited) So what you planning on using the USB or a port out of the Graphics card? I personally have 4 monitors. And the 4th monitor is my MFCD's with a monitorsetup.lua I got from this guide out this thread. Have you seen this? http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=60815 well some of the spoilers stuff is broken but anyways. Is it also just for the A10c you want export the MFCD's? cichlidfan Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 USB monitors can impact frame rates since the graphics have to be sent back to the USB bus after processing. Connecting monitors to your video card will generally yield better result, when possible. Having the ports on the card does not guarantee that all are useable. IIRC, older Nvidia cards only supported two monitors while the same vintage AMD cards supported three. ASUS ROG Maximus VIII Hero, i7-6700K, Noctua NH-D14 Cooler, Crucial 32GB DDR4 2133, Samsung 950 Pro NVMe 256GB, Samsung EVO 250GB & 500GB SSD, 2TB Caviar Black, Zotac GTX 1080 AMP! Extreme 8GB, Corsair HX1000i, Phillips BDM4065UC 40" 4k monitor, VX2258 TouchScreen, TIR 5 w/ProClip, TM Warthog, VKB Gladiator Pro, Saitek X56, et. al., MFG Crosswind Pedals #1199, VolairSim Pit, Rift CV1

You can actually use one monitor and put the MFCDs on upper right and upper left corners. So you don't *have* to get two monitors. This post will walk you through it. It's quite easy to setup. But if you are getting a monitor for MFCDs, I'd highly recommend getting the MFDs from Thursmaster. You can stick them on monitors (you don't have to use USB monitors) hsb HW Spec in Spoiler --- i7-10700K Direct-To-Die/OC'ed to 5.1GHz, MSI Z490 MB, 32GB DDR4 3200MHz, EVGA 2080 Ti FTW3, NVMe+SSD, Win 10 x64 Pro, MFG, Warthog, TM MFDs, Komodo Huey set, Rverbe G1

Mr_Burns Posted July 5, 2016 Posted July 5, 2016 (edited) I might be speaking out of line but I bought a USB screen which required USB 3 - the USB 3 on my MOBO was one of the first i7 2600k and it doesn't run USB monitors. The wife's newer i5 runs like a charm. I would recommend a cheap HDMI 17" monitor for both, doesn't really matter if it's to the left or right like the cockpit, you can also put some Helios on there! Also, you can make the MFDC bigger if your not using MFD bezels! No more squinting at 7" MFD. Edited July 5, 2016 by Mr_Burns
seastate Posted July 5, 2016 Author Posted July 5, 2016 Thanks for the replies. I'd really want 2 small monitors rather than combining them in one monitor. I've got a Geforce GTX650 Ti Boost which says it can handle 4 monitors and it seems to have a Displayport. I read that "The main advantage of DisplayPort is the ability to output to multiple displays through Multi-Stream Transport (MST). You can do this by daisy-chaining compatible monitors over DisplayPort or by connecting a DisplayPort MST splitter to your single DisplayPort output on your PC or laptop." So maybe I could add 2 small Displayport monitors off the one connection? but I can't find any 10" Displayport monitors! and although there's a DP port on my graphics card it's not listed in the specs so maybe it's not working - would be a annoying to order DP monitors to find it doesn't work.. So maybe one connected HDMI and the other DVI? I suppose it's just a case of 'suck it and see'
Mr_Burns Posted July 5, 2016 Posted July 5, 2016 I don't think monitors come that small, what is your motherboard, if you have the cash a lot of people on here have used lilliputs and I haven't heard a bad thing?
