Treudd Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 Hi there, I have an ASUS P4P800 Deluxe motherboard, Intel 2.4 GHz, 2GB RAM and ATI x800XL (256MB). AGPx8. I'm running on HIGH settings (i think) and I have 15-30 FPS. Well, 70 over water when looking at an empty sky. Is this a typical FPS for my hardware? It seems a little bit low... I'm running with the latest Catalyst and FC 1.12 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
SuperKungFu Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 no its typical, but i believe your cpu is the bottleneck a little. Don't play on all high settings, and try some of the fps tweak over at lockonfiles.com [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
3Sqn_Fudd Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 Agreed... Turn Mirrors off as well http://3sqn.com/forum/ Here's to 1.13 -- > http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h0488djMDBU
Treudd Posted September 12, 2006 Author Posted September 12, 2006 CRAPSTER! I just investigated my Lock On folder and noticed I was still using the 1.1 version! Somehow the patch never got installed!! DARN! Even though I had the 1.12 readme file, the exe file was still version 1.1. Strange. Hopefully my game will run a little bit faster. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Chandawg Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 Hey Treudd, let me know as I have almost an identical Setup as you, and have been obsessing over FPS for a few weeks now. | CyperPower PC | AMD Ryzen 7 3700X @ 4.4 GHz | 64Gb DDR4 3200 MHz | Radeon RX 5700 8Gb | 32" Samsung Curve| Oculus Rift S | Thrustmaster T160000 HOTAS + Rudder Pedals | Windows 10-64 |
some1 Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 Try this: -set shadows to "Active Planar" (you don't need to see shadow under every tree and building, "full shadows" make also some graphic anomalies). -turn off mirrors. -set water to "high" or "medium". "Very high" water works like mirror and reflects all terrain/objects, "high" water reflects only clouds so it's much faster. -set visibility range to "medium" or using external program like ModMan or LoCFG to something between medium and high. The biggest hit on performance here are density and visibility range of trees / buildings. But as Superkungfu said, your CPU is the weakest part of your system, so don't expect high FPS during heavy air battles. And if you're obsessed with FPS check this link: http://81.210.9.116/~apacz/smf/index.php/topic,7479.0.html I've made a short track which has similar amount of units (and action :) ) to bigger missions from campaign + full overcast and tested it with some configurations of my computer. Descriptions are in Polish, but I think that tech specs and average FPS are understandable. :smilewink: Hardware: VPForce Rhino, FSSB R3 Ultra, Virpil WarBRD, Hotas Warthog, Winwing F15EX, Slaw Rudder, GVL224 Trio Throttle, Thrustmaster MFDs, Saitek Trim wheel, Trackir 5, Quest Pro
Guest IguanaKing Posted September 15, 2006 Posted September 15, 2006 If you're getting those FPS figures, on High, with that rig, you are actually doing quite well. :D
