Svetlano Posted July 11, 2016 Posted July 11, 2016 Ok guys, trying to read around but found anything,so, sorry to ask. How do i bind the comand to "left-mouse" to my hotas to use inside the cockpit with the VR cursor ? And.. Why the cursor keeps randomly disappearing ? Thanks :pilotfly:
DBO Posted July 12, 2016 Posted July 12, 2016 What HOTAS are you using? If it's something like the X55, you could just the Saitek software to bind a button to act as the left mouse-click. I think the cursor tends to disappear when you leave the preview window on the desktop. I think there's a way you can get the mouse cursor to be captured inside DCS, but don't have a full answer on that. From memory that seems to have happened to me a few times. i7-6900K, 32GB G.Skill Trident Z 3200, G1 GTX 1080, Samsung 950 PRO 512GB, SAMSUNG 850 EVO 2TB, Corsair H115i, Saitek X55, MFG Crosswind pedals, X34 Predator, & a Vive
sabreman Posted July 12, 2016 Posted July 12, 2016 The best way to solve the cursor issue is to just hit alt+enter when you start DCS. This fullscreens the small window and your cursor will never leave it regardless of settings.
Svetlano Posted July 12, 2016 Author Posted July 12, 2016 I found out about pressing alt-enter to have the sim in full screen and the mouse not disappearing. I have a X52, and i'm not using the Saitek profiler. I'm wandering why in the VR controls settings it still hasn't been added a simple HOTAS bindable configuration key to use the HMD cursor to interact with the cockpit. Hope this will be added for the next update.
JG4_Sputnik Posted July 12, 2016 Posted July 12, 2016 Go to command options in DCS and on top left scroll to "UI" commands and there's the option to set up mouse click (left and right) to whatever joystick button you want. Works perfectly fine! Cheers

Gman109 Posted July 12, 2016 Posted July 12, 2016 Still waiting for my Vive - can someone explain exactly what is going on in this thread? I've been told (suggested more like it) that I was stupid for asking about the keyboard and mouse working in DCS while using VR/Vive, and now it sounds like you can't just click with the desktop mouse. Is that the case here, with having to map your left click to a HOTAS control, because you actually CAN'T use the regular mouse for it? I was told that my prior question was dumb, and that "of course" the kb/mouse works in DCS/Vive. That being the case, what's going on here? Is there some difference between "VR cursor" and "regular cursor" we see on a normal monitor? I thought that all the normal monitor kb/mouse stuff was supposed to work in VR, why can't you just grab your mouse and move it to the switches as per regular non VR DCS play? MostlyHarmless Posted July 12, 2016 Posted July 12, 2016 It is a bit confusing until you have flown under VR and see what is going on. In VR you have the option of either controling the cursor with your mouse like normal, or to have the cursor remain bound to the center of your view and move it by moving your head around. If you are doing the latter then I can totally understand the desire to have the left moue button bound to your hotas so you don't have to go reaching for the mouse while trying to keep your head looking exactly at the control you want to activate. At that point you might as well just be using the mouse to control the cursor again. With using a mouse for cursor control you can run into the issue of moving the mouse outside of the preview window and accidentally clicking on your desktop or another program's open window. This causes all sorts of annoyance as you try to peak under your device or use the headset camera to get back to having the game selected. This is fixed by using the alt-enter command mentioned above to make the preview window full screen and thus preventing you from being able to click outside of the game window. Personally I found that having to look directly at the switch while keeping my head steady was annoying so I picked up a small handheld trackball off amazon to use with my left hand for controlling the cursor. This way I never have to transition my hands in order to reach my mouse with my right hand and can keep a constant stick force applied. Hope this helps make it a bit more clear for you.
