bilbosmeggins Posted July 11, 2016 Posted July 11, 2016 (edited) Hi all. I've been away from DCS for a couple of years, but, inspired by my Oculus Rift, I've put together a new system and am back. I re-installed via Steam. However, I'm struggling a bit. I went to the DCS store to re-download my previous purchases and tried to get the Huey first. A warning flashed up saying not for Steam. Does this mean that I need to erase my Steam copy, and do it all from scratch direct from the DCS site? Edited July 11, 2016 by bilbosmeggins omission
cichlidfan Posted July 11, 2016 Posted July 11, 2016 If your keys were purchased on the ED store, after 7 June 2014, then they will not work on Steam, and you will have to install DCS World from ED's site. Once World is installed, you will have to login to the Module Manager and install your modules from there. ED no longer supports individual downloads for modules. wedge_one Posted July 11, 2016 Posted July 11, 2016 you don't need to erase you Steam copy, but'll need to make a standalone installation of DCS. it's your choice whether to keep two copies or just one. modules purchased on E-Shop can no longer be activated on Steam, but AFAIK you can do the other way around. not sure. since you've been away for quite some time, you probably gonna ask about 1.5, 2.0, etc currently DCS 2.0 is in alpha test and only runs with the NTTR map - a separated terrain module. DCS 1.5 is still the version to go for Caucasus - which is currently being converted to DCS 2.0 which will be called DCS 2.5. all modules run on both 1.5 and 2.0. ¬ wedge Wishlist: DCS: F-16C wedgeDCS - Modern Custom CSS themes for the Forum
bilbosmeggins Posted July 11, 2016 Author Posted July 11, 2016 Thanks both. If I get rid of the Steam version and d/l from the DCS site, can I still use my rift? The only reason I used Steam was because I thought that the VR element would be easier to access.
cichlidfan Posted July 11, 2016 Posted July 11, 2016 The Rift is basically Plug-n-Play with DCS World. Once the Rift is setup, DCS just works.
