Guys, what limits F-14A have to avoid TF-30 compressor stalls?

I just playing in P3D F-14X from Aerosoft for Prepar 3D, and my F-14A`s engines stops when I straight flying at low altitude at 700+ knots with full afterburner.. Why ?

It's hard to explain "limits", because than we have to define "limits", however, the TF-30 has several problems with high AoA and aggressive throttle management. Mostly at landing or high altitudes.

Regarding your problem in P3D, I would need more info.

To deliver air-to-ground ordnance on time in any weather condition. And to provide tactical reconaissance imagery" - F-14 Tomcat Roll Call

I'm assuming at this point you're supersonic? You must be in MIL while exiting afterburner above the mach. Otherwise you get a compressor stall.

Thanx for reply. very similar to the truth!

Yes, its supersonic. But... How F-14A can reach more than 700 knots at sea level if afterburners turned off ? (I was sure what F-14A dont have supercruise speed like F-22 to fly supersonic without afterburner)

Or F-14A at low altitude is subsonic aircraft ?

What max speed of tomcat at low altitude ?

That's not what he meant. When you are in full AB, at supersonic speed, you cannot put your throttle to idle, you need to put your throttle to full military power, otherwise you are gonna have a compressor stall.

P.S, the F-14B/D can supercruise when using clean payload.

Very intresting. But Aerosoft F-14A in supersonic at low alt have compressor stall with full max throttle (at speed 700-750 knots). I can make replay.

In that case, it’s something related to engine air flow and AICS (Air Inlet Control System). Keep in mind that P3D/FSX certainly is not a realistic simulator, but a track/replay would be nice, then we can see what really happened. :)

Thanx very much. AICS wasnt set to "auto"!

EDIT..... you already got the reply! Yeah, it's the inlet ramps. Make sure they are to auto after every take off.
