Lovaduck Posted September 14, 2006 Posted September 14, 2006 I have a Toshiba A105-S4074 with this chipset (which is fairly common), giving an average quality graphics support. Supposedly Open GL is supported. But I have not had good luck getting it to work with Lomac 1.12. I started with Lomac 1.0, horrible results, then upgraded to FC, which resulted in an improvement, and then added the patch to 1.12 (no change there). I don't care if it is a bit slow, I just want to be able to play while on the road. Here are some captures from the Mig-29 Airshow replay. Any comments? Is there anything I can do? Change some settings using the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator for Mobile Driver is possible, although there are not many options available unfortunately.
Rhen Posted September 14, 2006 Posted September 14, 2006 Try running in full screen mode instead of in a window. The other thing you can try - at least it works for me whenever this happens - is to task switch out of LOMAC and onto the desktop, then back to LOMAC. You may have to repeat this task switching process several times to get rid of the corrupted graphics. Hope this helps.
zaelu Posted September 14, 2006 Posted September 14, 2006 I get this only if I go to desktop with Ctrl+Esc. Could be a VGA problem... Hardware or software... Did you overclocked your card? Any other game in which you get this? Lovaduck Posted September 15, 2006 Author Posted September 15, 2006 I tried, no luck. Repeated the task switching several times. I did it both on fullscreen and windowed mode. Lovaduck Posted September 15, 2006 Author Posted September 15, 2006 There is no way to overclock the graphics chipset on this laptop, maybe there is on some high end laptops. This happens without any task switching involved, as soon as you start the simulation the problem is there. Thanks for your comments! I get this only if I go to desktop with Ctrl+Esc. zenTera Posted September 15, 2006 Posted September 15, 2006 As far as I know Lock On doesn't need Open GL but DirectX 8.0 support. Not sure if your chip supports it.

I play on a laptop as well, but it has 256MB memory. I usually get this type of graphics corruption from task switching or when the chip becomes overheated from diminished air flow. If your laptop is not brand new, have you sprayed the dust bunnies out of it?
hitman Posted September 16, 2006 Posted September 16, 2006 As far as I know Lock On doesn't need Open GL but DirectX 8.0 support. Not sure if your chip supports it. OpenGL isnt supported with LOMAC, however Dx8.1 compatible. Im afraid youll need to get a video card.
Lovaduck Posted September 16, 2006 Author Posted September 16, 2006 DirectX is installed and functional, version is 9.0c. The point is even if it is, there might be functions required by Lomac that this Intel chipset doesn't support, I just ran DXdiag to find out what was there, and one piece of function is not present, it is AGP texture acceleration. So that might be it. I don't know. Here's output from DXdiag giving some information about the chipset capabilities. The laptop is brand new, so no overheating problems there. And unfortunately there is no way to change graphics cards here, I have to change the whole laptop for another one, a very expensive proposition. The video chipset has 128MB of memory available, there is no way to add more. Now, this is a bug forum, I am surprised all responses are from other users, no apparent developers involvement? Just coasting does not bring money into the house, there needs to be some action on the frontlines to keep this campaign moving forward. ------------------ System Information ------------------ Time of this report: 9/16/2006, 11:15:47 Machine name: S4074 Operating System: Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 2 (2600.xpsp.050928-1517) Language: English (Regional Setting: English) System Manufacturer: TOSHIBA System Model: Satellite A105 BIOS: BIOS Version 1.90 Processor: Genuine Intel® CPU T2050 @ 1.60GHz (2 CPUs) Memory: 758MB RAM Page File: 310MB used, 1161MB available Windows Dir: C:\WINDOWS DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904) DX Setup Parameters: Not found DxDiag Version: 5.03.2600.2180 32bit Unicode ------------ DxDiag Notes ------------ DirectX Files Tab: No problems found. hitman Posted September 16, 2006 Posted September 16, 2006 No AGP slot eh?? Try to find a pci slot thats open and get a cheapie video card. Problem is I dont think any card thats pci works with dx8.1 or better, since those video cards need to use an agp port. Ill see if I can find a pci card on the fly. Is your motherboard PCI-E by any chance??? NVM it is. If you need a decent card for the buck, check this out. It wont fit in a laptop but god knows Ive built enough towers with laptop parts.
D13-th_electric Posted December 1, 2006 Posted December 1, 2006 Lovaduck, I have the same problem on a brand new HP Compaq nc6320. Below you'll see the output of dxdiag. I had the same problem with IL2, but I manage to overcome by setting the game to safe video settings. (IL2 allows for this setting :) ) IL2 uses dx8wrap.dll. and LOMAC uses DXRenderer.dll. Anyone, ideas? best regards, electric ------------------ System Information ------------------ Time of this report: 12/1/2006, 09:43:19 Machine name: ELECTRIC Operating System: Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 2 (2600.xpsp.051011-1528) Language: English (Regional Setting: English) System Manufacturer: Hewlett-Packard System Model: HP Compaq nc6320 (RH380EA#ABB) BIOS: KBC Version 58.11 Processor: Intel® Core2 CPU T5600 @ 1.83GHz (2 CPUs) Memory: 1016MB RAM Page File: 406MB used, 2034MB available Windows Dir: C:\WINDOWS DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904) DX Setup Parameters: /Silent DxDiag Version: 5.03.2600.2180 32bit Unicode ------------ DxDiag Notes ------------ DirectX Files Tab: No problems found. Uden Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 same problem hi all, has a solution been found ??? I have the same problem on my new laptop, a Toshiba A110 with Intel 945GM. p.s. IL2 and IL2 Forgotten Battles run fine.
Guest IguanaKing Posted December 9, 2006 Posted December 9, 2006 I think the problem is that you are using an integrated graphics chip in those 945GM machines. LOMAC is not friendly to those for some reason.

LOMAC is not friendly to those for some reason. Hi All! it's not LOMAC's problem, it's Intel's. check this out: http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/sb/CS-009689.htm Symptom(s): In the Microsoft* DirectX* Diagnostic Tool (dxdiag), AGP Texture Acceleration shows as "Not Available" on the "Display" tab. Cause: Older graphics drivers reported the DVMT (Dynamic Video Memory Technology) memory as non-local video memory (AGP memory). To improve compatibility, this has been changed in newer graphics drivers so that DVMT memory is reported as local video memory. Solution: This is expected behavior with the PV 14.x graphics drivers. so, it's expected. however, LOMAC is not present in the games compatibility (or incompatibility) list (http://support.intel.com/support/graphics/intel945gm/sb/CS-021400.htm) intel rulez...
