Angelthunder Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 my honest opinion on why the korean servers are ghosted would be because its so hard trying to spot the other jet, its hard enough as it is in ww2, double the average speeds and closure rates and it can get discouraging, and for 2nd generation id chose the delta daggerAs much as i would love to see the Convair Delta interceptors or the F-101B Voodoo. The aircraft was only used primarily for defensive missions against enemy bombers, not for dogfighting.Unless they can duel with other less maneuverable russian interceptors like the Yak-28 Firebar or Su-15 Flagon. There basically defenseless against more maneuverable fighters.I think most interceptors would be good with a larger map of the US or Russia and a campaign mission to go with them. With AI bombers as targets for the campain. Then you could switch to offensive missions with tactical fighters like the Super Sabre or the Fishbed for doing most of dogfighting missions.

BUT WAIT THERE"S MORE I flew the F-102 transitioning into the F-106. I was very impressed with its turning ability. Many pilots claim their aircraft turns better than other. Of course, aerial combat will prove this, but short of that, I found another way to measure the turning capability of different aircraft and used that for comparison. That is to take the aircraft to 10,000’ at initial approach airspeed and perform a split-S as tight as possible. The F-102 would do it under 2,500’. The T-33 about 3,300’. The F-106 at 3,100’ and the F-4 at about 7,000’. I repeat the F-4 at 7,000,” pilot Bill Jowett recalled. truth be told aircraft have a way of surprising pilots and enemies alike, 1. its not always about maneuverability, there's energy fighting and playing you planes strengths against the others' weaknesses which im about to explain..... 2. by your logic we shouldn't have the mig 21 ,it was an interceptor, couldn't really out turn its opponents except for the phantom, but even then all the phantom pilot had to do was a hi yo-yo.....
AlQaholic Posted August 6, 2016 Author Posted August 6, 2016 I wouldn't mind a Su-15. It looks pretty sick!
Orange Posted August 19, 2016 Posted August 19, 2016 (edited) Why not some 1st or 2nd generation fighters in DCS? In my opinion we have enough simulators concentrating on WW2 already and it would be great to see some early jet era dogfights in DCS. Hawker Hunter or Su- 7 would be really amazing. My personal favorite is the imposing and powerful Su-7. In the theaters it operated, it had gained profound reputation with its offensive capabilities. With a weapons system centered on a powerful dual NR-30 cannon and the sheer brute power of Lyulka AL-7F, Su-7s were quite effective in sweeping in at extremely low level, pulverizing bunkers and semi-armored vehicles with very accurate rocket attacks. Flying mostly through intense anti-aircraft fire they were brutally effective in this punishing role. Although vulnerable operating against fortified air defenses in battles, Su-7s had a reputation of being built extremely tough. They have demonstrated their ability to absorb far greater punishment than other aircraft types and has recorded instances of being able to make it back to base despite suffering extensive damage. I’ve read that during the Indo-Pakistani war of 1971, an Indian Su-7 hit by a sidewinder was able to return to base with half the rudder missing, the elevators, ailerons and flaps severely damaged, and half the missile stuck in the chute pipe. The Su-7 is an exceptionally robust aircraft. I’d love to see them in a future Arab-Israeli theater or Indo-Pakistani theater. Edited August 19, 2016 by Orange
