CptTangerine Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 Does anyone know how you can navigate using a Vive? I'm flying the UH-1 and the F10 map comes up but is blank apart from the airports. The knee board also doesn't seem to work. I'm loving the Huey with Vive but flying by VFR only. Cheers! Justin Case Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 This is fixed in DCS 2.0 and will probably work in 1.5 shortly, at least the F10 map. http://www.masterarms.se A Swedish Combat Flight Simulator Community.
CptTangerine Posted August 3, 2016 Author Posted August 3, 2016 I haven't tried it with 2.0 but I'll give it a look. I couldn't get the Huey to import into 2.0 although I have to admit that I didn't try very hard. M1Combat Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 It doesn't help you a lot but my kneeboard works great with a Vive... Something else may be broken? CptTangerine Posted August 3, 2016 Author Posted August 3, 2016 Hmm. Interesting. Is that on 1.5 or 2.0? CPU: Intel Core i5 4590 3.3GHz, RAM: 32GB HyperX Fury 1600MHz DDR3, GFX: EVGA GTX 1080, OS: Windows 7 Home Premium SP1, Joy: TM Warthog, Peds: CH Pro Pedals, TrackIR3, VR: Vive
CptTangerine Posted August 4, 2016 Author Posted August 4, 2016 That's weird. I'm pressing K and I've tried Ctrl-K and nothing is happening. I tried these in 2.0 and 1.5.4 and nothing is happening. It does work without the Vive on. I take it that it is just supposed to float in front of your face like the other menus? Einherjer Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 Kneeboard pops up in front of you on your right... But I think it would be great if the kneeboard gets an update... Move it with the mouse, move the map and paint on it and add some navigation tools That would replace the f10 map
CptTangerine Posted August 4, 2016 Author Posted August 4, 2016 That's not happening for me. I have no idea why. I just had a go with the P-51 and there is a knee board on the pilot body but it still doesn't float when I press K. I also found that if I use the [] keys to cycle through the pages the knee board just goes grey and doesn't recover. A decent knee board could easily replace the map. That is what they are for, after all. Purg Posted August 5, 2016 Posted August 5, 2016 Kneeboard working has only been in the last couple of patches in 1.5. Are you sure you're running the latest version?
M1Combat Posted August 5, 2016 Posted August 5, 2016 Maybe remove all mods, test, do a repair, test, then re-enable all mods and test again? CptTangerine Posted August 5, 2016 Author Posted August 5, 2016 I checked the version number in game and it's showing that it's 1.5.2.48726. Is that the latest version? I noticed that you mentioned 1.5.4. The game always used to auto-update but after I rebuilt my PC I didn't reinstall the game, I just found the .exe on my drive and made a shortcut to that. I don't see why this would bypass the auto-update feature but it's possible that it does. Einherjer Posted August 5, 2016 Posted August 5, 2016 Navigating with Vive Don't use the dcs.exe, but run the updater.exe in the bin folder. For forcing an update, make a shortcut of the updater.exe and write update in the end of the path line
CptTangerine Posted August 6, 2016 Author Posted August 6, 2016 Yep. That's sorted it. I now have the updated version and the knee board works as it should. The only thing now is that I have the blue selector cross slaved to my Vive headset. I'm sure that there is a way to return it to the old mouse control as when I clicked on a command a couple of times the control was returned to the mouse. Is there a button or a setting for this? It's rather distracting to have it wave about in my view the whole time. Thanks! CptTangerine Posted August 6, 2016 Author Posted August 6, 2016 Actually, scratch that. I found the new VR settings tab. CPU: Intel Core i5 4590 3.3GHz, RAM: 32GB HyperX Fury 1600MHz DDR3, GFX: EVGA GTX 1080, OS: Windows 7 Home Premium SP1, Joy: TM Warthog, Peds: CH Pro Pedals, TrackIR3, VR: Vive
