DaveRindner Posted August 5, 2016 Posted August 5, 2016 I am unable to deploy the drag chute. System ignores the shortcut key.
golani79 Posted August 5, 2016 Posted August 5, 2016 (edited) edit: not relevant - mixed up jettison and deploy  You need to open the safety cover of the switch first - otherwise it won't work. So you actually need 2 shortcuts. Edited August 6, 2016 by golani79 >> DCS liveries by golani79 <<
grunf Posted August 6, 2016 Posted August 6, 2016 Works fine for me. Does it work with the cockpit button (30)? It doesn't have safety cover.
DaveRindner Posted August 6, 2016 Author Posted August 6, 2016 Isn't that for release chute (after deployment)switch cover. I do not see shortcut for deployment button cover.
golani79 Posted August 6, 2016 Posted August 6, 2016 Ah, sorry - got it mixed up (deploy and jettison) But nontheless I just tried to deploy the chute in 2.0.3 and it worked with the assigned shortcut. I´ve assigned the shortcuts in DCS itself and not in my HOTAS software (not sure if this might be part of your problem) And have you already tried to bind another shortcut? (I´m sure you have but asking nontheless) >> DCS liveries by golani79 <<

Redglyph Posted October 30, 2016 Posted October 30, 2016 I'm reading this much later. Still, for future reference, - LH30 deploys the drag chute, make sure all wheels are on the ground and the indicated airspeed is below 320 km/h; - LH70 disconnects the drag chute, you have to open the cover first otherwise it won't work (even with a shortcut). Make sure you have vacated the runway before doing that, not to leave dangerous obstacles for the incoming / outgoing aircraft (in theory at least, because in the current DCS the chute just disappears). One the drag chute has been deployed, you need to maintain some speed because once you're stopped, you cannot move with the chute, so the idea is - touchdown with rear wheels, - maintain a 5° KPP nose attitude and use the aircraft drag to lower the speed, - once the nosewheel is on the ground, release the drag chute, - keep some low speed and taxi to the jettison area, - open the protection cover and disconnect the chute. Weegie Posted December 28, 2016 Posted December 28, 2016 You can assign the cover to your HOTAS I have my drag chute working on the Hog Speed brake fwd P - Press and Release As long as the switch is pressed that's all that happens When I release the switch the following is executed RALT D - Press and Release (opens the cover) RSHF LCTL D Press and Release (activates the chute release) RALT D - Press and Release (closes the cover)
