Davewave Posted August 25, 2016 Posted August 25, 2016 Hi all. Just wanted to know if anyone knew how DCS and A10C render bullet holes. Is each hole you see on the aircraft calculated from an actual bullet hit or is it the same texture each time for different damage levels. See attached picture of my right engine torn to shreds.
Xavven Posted August 25, 2016 Posted August 25, 2016 I'm not 100% sure, but I think it's the latter. I believe it knows what general part of the aircraft was hit (left/right wing, fuselage, etc.), but I always have the same bullet hole pattern regardless of the weapon that hit me -- SAM, AAA, all the same.

Ok thanks.
timetodoit Posted August 25, 2016 Posted August 25, 2016 Would love to see a more realistic looking damage system that would be awesome
Pocket Sized Posted August 25, 2016 Posted August 25, 2016 Try scraping your wing on the taxiway, you'll find it will be peppered with bullet holes. DCS modules are built up to a spec, not down to a schedule. In order to utilize a system to your advantage, you must know how it works.
