  1. Or, better yet, roll upside down and pull. The flanker does not like negative G at all :P
  2. Well that would explain why the FM isn't as simple as "just tweaking the 27 and adding a tailhook." Modeling how the air is disturbed by one part and its effects on another part... can't imagine how hard that is to accomplish without killing the end user's PC.
  3. The spitfire wing stalls at about 15° in my experience. The airplane just has enough elevator authority to push the wing far, far past stall AoA (large, high deflection elevator and aft CG)
  4. Does anyone know about the specific differences between the Su-27 and 33? I can't help but wonder if the canards make the aircraft less stable, or if they compensate for a further aft CoL caused by the larger wing.
  5. Huh! I had assumed the tomcat had an inferior TWR across the board.
  6. Probably this: https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3139346&postcount=3
  7. Forgive me, I haven't read the entire thread, but is this something that is purely a visual issue, or does it have a negative impact on flight dynamics as well?
  8. Up near the sound barrier, I imagine the Tomcat's turn rate would suffer due to the wing sweep in comparison to something like the Hornet (which has better TWR and relaxed stability to boot)
  9. Cobra said it is predicted to be released this year (with no small amount of confidence) but I wouldn't accept that as an official statement just to be on the safe side.
  10. Most WWII birds, to my knowledge, have good enough stability margins that a self sustaining spin is very difficult to enter. As for DCS in general, the only aircraft I can really spin are the F-15 and F-5E (with a bit of practice, that is). Edit: good point, OnlyForDCS. To fully center the controls In a spin, you need to apply a considerable amount of pressure IRL.
  11. That's all subjective, though. I can maneuver a lightly loaded A-10 very tightly with a bit of practice. If only I had a better joystick and more training, then I could probably ride the chopped tone all day long. Oh wait....
  12. If the EGT limits are implemented properly, then hot starts will also be modeled.
  13. People love the Jug for the same reason people love the Warthog... it's just a very badass airplane all around.
  14. Sounds like a trim issue. The AP alone doesn't have enough authority to cause such a severe upset.
  15. Any veterans of this thread recall the infamous split S discussion? In game, under pretty much optimal conditions (low fuel, medium airspeed, consistent 20° AoA) I managed a split S from about 2,400 ft (731m) AGL... barely. I think I pulled out with <50ft to spare. And that's with the recent turn performance update. If I recall correctly, the story claimed a 500m split S in an operational aircraft (decent fuel load and reconnaissance equipment)... so I think we can put this one to bed ;)
