Redglyph Posted September 22, 2016 Posted September 22, 2016 Hello, The manual installed with the F-86F Sabre mod is obviously a wrong, unachieved version. It contains many "TODO" many highlighted items that suggest necessary modifications titles or text in Russian, like pp. 210, 328, ... misformatted text, with pictures over text or scattered like pp. 194, 212, 297-319 (that part is particularly bad), ... sections or links to the relevant sections seem to be missing, like pp. 134, 220, 233, 236, ... From the two other manuals I got from Belsimtek, the Mig-15 and the Huey, I'm pretty sure it's a packaging problem. Would it be possible to get the final version? It would be much easier to get to know this nice aircraft :) DCS v1.5.4.56500.155 System specs: Win7 x64 | CPU: i7-4770K | RAM: 16 GB | GPU: GTX 980 Ti 6 GB | Thrustmaster HOTAS | MFG rudder pedals | SATA3 SSD | TrackIR

Art-J Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 From the experiences with other modules, I'm pretty sure it's not a packaging problem - the manual we've got is just the only one there is. If there are any updated versions ready, we get them via normal game updates anyway. Mind You, recent F-5 has been the first BST module which had manual even before release, MiG-15 was the first which got manual, which was kind of finished from the get go (although somewhat delayed), while F-86 got any manual only a year and a half after release, and Mi-8 still doesn't have one 3 years after release (not counting the unfinished draft). BST has always been a bit slow with preparing English manuals, the situation has started changing only relatively recently. If You want to have some supplementary information about the Sabre, though, there's a bunch of real manuals available on the net: https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2167231&postcount=9 i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.
Redglyph Posted October 11, 2016 Author Posted October 11, 2016 I know it's a bit random with them. But the least they could do is answer from time to time, I never got any answer from Belsimtek, not a single one! (and no fix either, of course) Hard to recommend their product or even buy another one from them under those conditions. It's not as if this one was a difficult question. Anyway, thanks for the links, I think I stumbled on this a while ago :) Yeah, saw that the Mig-15 wasn't completely finished either, though it's not as bad as this one. NeilWillis Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 This forum isn't necessarily frequented by any of the 3rd party developers. It certainly isn't a place which gives them any obligation to answer questions even though Belsimtek have a link to it from their own website. The best you can expect here is that they are watching the forum, and taking in criticism, and hopefully, are acting upon it. The question of manuals has been raised, and is slowly being addressed, as stated earlier in this thread. It isn't a satisfactory state of affairs, but right now, it is what it is. Your best bet is to get hold of the real world F-86F flight manual, and use that.

The question of manuals has been raised, and is slowly being addressed, as stated earlier in this thread. It isn't a satisfactory state of affairs, but right now, it is what it is. Your best bet is to get hold of the real world F-86F flight manual, and use that. I'm afraid I disagree with that point of view, and I hope you don't actually mean that. Those forums being the only place where it's possible to contact them, it would really be contemptuous from them not to maintain some form of communication. They might not be, in pure theory, legally obliged to provide any support (though I'm not entirely convinced that would stand), but it's part of the deal anyway. They sell their product in beta and early release stage so they can get money in advance, we can play sooner, and provide information on potential problems as beta testers, they fix the bugs and everyone is happy. If they break the deal and stop at some point before the product is mature enough, or worse, if they simply don't reply and play dead, it becomes a problem, for us and soon for them, military flight simulation is a small market. The best I can expect is that hopefully they fix the problems? Come on, let's be realistic, I'm pretty sure nobody would agree with that paradigm. If that were the way it worked, I made a mistake by having a leap of faith and buying more modules from them - but that'd be the last cent they see from me, for sure. As for the original problem, sure, I could read the other manuals (I actually read parts of them) but I'd rather go on reading what I started to read, and more importantly, the manual of the actual product - Belsimtek's F-86F, which doesn't necessarily have everything implemented, and possibly has some helpful features (like the kneeboard) that are not described elsewhere. Especially if they have the correct version but just haven't released it, which is quite probable. Buzzles Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 If you want a response, post a translated post in the Russian section. From what I understand BST don't have many good English speakers on the team, so tend not to post in this bit much. Fancy trying Star Citizen? Click here!
Redglyph Posted October 13, 2016 Author Posted October 13, 2016 Hmm, not sure, they would most probably get hurt laughing after reading my Google translation and never fix anything anymore ;) But more seriously, yes, perhaps...
