I just tried the oculus rift at Best Buy and loved it !

So much so, that I am going to buy a home cockpit and start learning dcs game play. I'm not interested in the a-10c or anything that complicated, I just wanna fly FC3. My question is that FC3 is keyboard intensive and the oculus rift does not allow for easy access to the keyboard. So, if I buy a TM warthog, will that give me enough buttons to just about eliminate the need for a keyboard? Or is there another solution? Thanks

The simplest solution is voice activated software such as Voice Attack (there are a number of other packages that work similarly). That enables you to use a single button, and key words to invoke any single routine or string of routines. For example, you could say "Kobuleti tower request start up", and the voice attack software (when correctly configured) would press the relevant function keys to navigate the menus and send the correct call to ATC for you.

It isn't easy to set up, but with some thought, you can make it execute any and all keyboard based inputs - and more - with a single button press followed by spoken key words.

I totally agree. As a very recent Rift owner, I also felt the need to set up voice attack and man, is it worth it!

Take a while to configure, but it just works! Invest the 10 minutes and train your windows speech engine. Now I need to find a good way to input coordinates into my CDU, maybe it could work via dictating to voice attack
