Thinks in advance.

When you deploy a weapon (GAU8, bomb, missile) CDU will store target location in the memory.

Change CDU dial to MARK position and use normal navigation techniques to fly to that point for re-attack.

It's very simple.

Example, when you do a gun run, drop a bomb, or use rockets, the system will automatically create a point of interest at the impact point,. You have to change the steerpoint dial to MARK, and you should see on the HUD, "Mark Z", then you can slave the TGP or whatever you want to the last impact point. (where you shot at). Or use the Mark Z as a reference.

As Z changes, I would not rely to much on it. Instead creating waypoint or another markpoint over target area is a wise thing :D

Think of it as a good, safe way of doing it. And I'm not negating Bunyap, nearly expanding.

I am keen to understand your point of view here. When you say "I would not relay..", relay on it to do what exactly?

Mark Z is for re-attacking and it is reliable in terms of doing just that.

You ingress, attack, ingress / deconflict. Spatial awareness and instruments should allow you to re-attack without any problem, however some situations may get into way - defensive maneuvers specifically. Mark Z shows you last attack area. It is not there to pinpoint your target, but I am sure you know that.
