i wonder what a flight sim would be like with VR and full motion?

I'm still waiting for the last box to clear customs in NY and make it to me in California.

 

What's the status MacThai? Have they managed to lose your other box or are you happily flying a motion rig by now?

Nope ... the second box is 'still' stuck or (seems to be more likely) ... lost in USPS customs in NY.

 

It's been over a month (as of the 10'th of Nov.) since it was processed through USPS ISC NY and into customs.

I called USPS, got a case number, but no word other than they say "it could be months" ...

 

My local postmaster said "We can call customs, but they will just laugh at us". :dunno:

 

In the meantime the base frame is sitting alone on the bench in my workshop.

Man that's got to be frustrating! A month with the same status is ridiculous! Postal service is getting worse wherever you look. There has to be a way to escalate it. Hopefully they'll get their stuff into order soon for you.

Don't get your expectation too high. I have 2 dof seat mover for racing sims mainly and also tried 3 dof full motion. It is cool, but nothing spectacular it is not producing any G just some movement. VR is way more "lol" effect than motion seat.

Yeah, it's frustrating alright.

 

The other guy that had his second box also get stuck at the same time/place as mine, did get his a week or so after the his first box arrived, so I'm at a loss as to why my second box is stuck.

As you can imagine ... all sorts of things are going through my mind .. like did the box break open, did the address label fall off, did it absentmindedly get placed in some rat infested corner where no custom agent dares to go, or ?????? :dunno:

 

So ... I'm in a holding pattern, and sort of more pissed because I have no word and no way of knowing if it is going to get here or not, so I can't make other plans.

I would sorta rather know it's lost, and press on, but there is no way to get any update or any other status report, than what the tracking number shows, and I'm reluctant to buy something else ... only to have the missing box show up.

 

So yeah ... USPS Priority International mail (IMHO) ... sucks! :(

However, I have to admit ... I do kinda take some maso-twisted comfort in metzger's latest post above. ;)

VR itself is mind blowing but it´s just normal after some times.

With motion it´s just insane.

For sure the G´s are not realistic, but you´ll get a small taste of RL Pilots inflight strain. Fear, Adrenalin is overwhelming in many situations. I slowly get used to it, but didn´t have the guts for a Scramble :-)
