Sporg Posted November 5, 2016 Posted November 5, 2016 (edited) With the latest Open Beta 1.5.5 patch, some errors has arisen with the 190 (tested in Quick start mission Cold Start): Battery power is too low to move the starter, one needs to connect to ground power to make it turn the engine Even with ground power, the starter seems to take longer to wind up. Sound of the starter is muffled, sounds weird and difficult to hear. When started, the Oil Gauge stays at zero. This has no effect on the engine however, it keeps functioning as normal, incl. normal temperatures. The issue is present at a friend of mine as well. He even got problems after a while, that even ground power did not help. Edit: Attached file with log, update and repair log, and a track. (Repair replaced the mission file since I tried saving it in 1.5.5 to no avail.)190 starter bug.zip Edited November 6, 2016 by Sporg System specs: Gigabyte Aorus Master, i7 9700K@std, GTX 1080TI OC, 32 GB 3000 MHz RAM, NVMe M.2 SSD, Oculus Quest VR (2x1600x1440) Warthog HOTAS w/150mm extension, Slaw pedals, Gametrix Jetseat, TrackIR for monitor use
saburo_cz Posted November 5, 2016 Posted November 5, 2016 (edited) Starting Fw is nearly impossible in the last patch. It must be bug. Oil pressure indicator worked, when i started engine, after many attempts... edit: i tried "auto start" unfortunately it was unsuccessful too Edited November 5, 2016 by saburo_cz F6F P-51D | P-47D | F4U-1D | Mosquito FB Mk VI | Spitfire | Fw 190D | Fw 190A | Bf 109K | WWII Assets Pack Normandy 2 | The Channel | Sinai | Syria | PG | NTTR | South Atlantic F-4E | F-14A/B | F/A-18 | F-86 | F-16C | A-10C | FC-3 | CA | SC |
predattak Posted November 6, 2016 Posted November 6, 2016 Same here .... after the pain of trying to see something through the pilot body that now you can't remove(it's been reported..) i could not start the engine at all without ground power and ALOT of time spinning the starter... but it's OPEN BETA , i'm used with it , it will be fixed in the next mini patch .. usually in a week or so :)
Zilch Posted November 13, 2016 Posted November 13, 2016 I was able to get it started after applying ground power. I noticed that when I turned on the instrument lights, they flickered until the GPU was attached. Once electricity was flowing, it started up as normal. May be a decent work-around for some people until it's fixed. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Zilch79's YouTube Channel:

Generator doesn't make output enough until 1600rpm IIRC, you can dry the battery indeed with the engine running at idle. Easily checked as cockpit lights glare regularly when generator is working at the required load (hence they flicker when not). Everything is stated in the manual. S!
