golfsierra2 Posted October 15, 2006 Posted October 15, 2006 This may be what some people have looked for already: http://www.filehosting.cc/file/10331/Teamspeak-Noise-zip.html TS-Noise can be run togther with TeamSpeak and adds mike-clicks and some static noise to the TS transmission.... :D kind regards, Raven.... Pilotasso Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 ah man we dont need that..TS quality is as bad as it is. :D .
golfsierra2 Posted October 16, 2006 Author Posted October 16, 2006 ah man we dont need that..TS quality is as bad as it is. :D You did try Speex 16.3 kbit and higher, didn't you ? I agree, with CELP 5.1 ist's a pain in the ass, but other codex using more bandwith make TS work like telephone... kind regards, Raven.... Guest IguanaKing Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 Have you guys ever heard what the audio sounds like in a radio transmission sent from a guy speaking into an O2 mask? It sounds like s**t, LOL. With that noise mod, can you acknowledge by simply keying your mic twice? The reason I ask is because I just bought a headset for use on-line, so I'd like to know if I'm going to have to alter my normal, IRL, radio procedures.

Try helium and youll sound like chip & Dale. :D I have to get a bottle of that. Me and my freinds, pretty much have already tried everything just to get a few good laughs. .

The mike-click comes if you use push-to-talk without saying a word. So if you just push 2 time the button, yes I think the other will hear 2 clicks then... Are you thinking about HEFOE ? Just try yourself.... :D kind regards, Raven.... [sigpic]http://www.crc-mindreader.de/CRT/images/Birds2011.gif[/sigpic]
Guest IguanaKing Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 Nope, not thinking of HEFOE signals...just acknowledging without having to use up air time. HEFOE would be cool, but they'd have to make an all new set of pilot animations. :D Not sure if TS simulates it, but its very easy for two radio transmitters to step on each other. You have to wait for clear air, otherwise those listening on that same frequency will often hear garbage. So, acknowledgment of a received transmission is often done with two mic clicks, just to keep the frequency free as long as possible.

Heh...not the gas itself, just the quality and proximity of the microphone. ;) The cartoon character reference is pretty close though, O2 mask transmissions often sound a little bit like Donald Duck. :D
ARM505 Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 TS doesn't simulate the warbling garble that is a double transmission. Perhaps thats good though! Did a large bomber formo mission last night in IL2, about 13 B25 pilots, plus some fighter escort (on another channel thankfully). What chaos on the radio! IRL it would have been one long screech!
Prophet_169th Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 Never had control of an aircraft radio net, but I used to for an infantry unit. The new digital SINGARS radios dont allow the double transmission, only one person will come through. And there are procedures to clear the net. But there is a problem where you try and key but get nothing, because some jack ass has an open mic, or wont shut the hell up. I think it was keying twice or repeatedly and it would break his comm. And why would you ever want to add static. Would give me a freaking brain tumor. But then again, my fans are so loud on my comp, that the mic picks it up anyways. I really need to put it on the ground. I just know the military spends lots of money to improve radios for better quality comm, so to add noise in........ But I guess if thats what you want, then thats cool. Oh, and the Codec for TS is set by the server, so the admin needs to change that.
3Sqn_Fudd Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 Just FYI.... you dont have to have the background noise. The clciks are handy, lets you know when a transmission has ended http://3sqn.com/forum/ Here's to 1.13 -- > http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h0488djMDBU
