Mysterious performance drop in two 2.0.4 instant missions.

Guys, how do the new instant "cold start" and "ground attack" MiG-21 missions in 2.0.4 run on Your PCs?

I've adjusted settings of my aging rig to run at high detail and pretty much stable 60 during various missions with a couple of units around and it usually works. For some mysterious reason, though, these two run very badly at the beginning, with fps dropping to high 30s - low 40s.

Can anyone experienced with mission editor figure out why this is the case? I wouldn't be surprised if there were many high detailed A/C standing or flying nearby, but there's only one MiG-21 wingman, two F-16s (quite low-poly models as we know), plus two choppers flying above. The only ground units are a couple of trucks to be destroyed, driving 70-odd km away, while Nellis Airbase is not very hardware demanding in itself. When F-16s depart, fps raise to high 40s, but that's about it. They only get back up to 60 after takeoff.

I thought maybe it was the comeback of the old MiG-21 LOD issue, which was causing frames to drop whenever there was one of these planes around, but when I do some formation flying very close to my wingman, the performance is flawless, so something different is the cause of the problem, but what?

I'm getting even worse frame rate in the Cold start mission, well below 20, even <10 at the start. As soon as I leave the parking space the fps significantly improves, to 50 and 60 after I get airborne (which is what I usualy have).

There's nothing wrong with the mission, but it seems that the old issue is back. Creating a new mission with only 2 Migs parked next to each other also results with low fps, <20. Flying close formation with AI Mig drops fps from 60 to 30-40.

If I remove the wingman from the cold start mission, the result is 60 fps at the very start.

So it's something about the MiG. I seem to be getting rather "normal" performance when flying near that AI -21 though, ordering him to RTB, so I can get close and monitor fps. Haven't flown THAT close, however, will try again later and see what happens.

So maybe it's something with the taxi lights before takeoff? I don't think it's possible to make AI taxi with lights off, is it? Will try to land with him and see how the game runs when we taxi back to ramp and then he turns everything off.

I don't think its the lights, the same happens if the AI MiG is cold at the mission start (uncontrolled).

I did another test at Nellis, as soon as the AI Mig moved a few meters, fps went from <20 to 60!

Certainly not a LOD issue either, then. Even with external cam zoomed out, the frames were crappy. Lemoen's note above might be a clue, but I don't know what to make out of these more detailed stats.
