When the coordinates of the plane are given to the player, the format should be Lat Long Decimal (DD:MM:mm), at the moment its Lat Long (as seen by pressing F10).

You need to go to the options and change it.

To whom it may concern,

I am an idiot, unfortunately for the world, I have a internet connection and a fondness for beer....apologies for that.

Thank you for you patience.

What I mean is- the instructor tells you (its in the audio dialog) to enter the normal lat long coordinates ( you can get those by pressing F10), not the ones in the required format for the ins (F10 + alt Y ). I dont think changing the map to display lat lonng decimal will have any affect on the dialog itself

I am trying to understand here. I just did the training missions one, engine start, and the instructor mentions coordinates N413631 and later E0413631 for the INS alignment. Is he not saying that for you?

Well spotted BarTzi :)

The aircraft position is:

N 41° 36' 26" E 041° 36' 26" (Lat Long)

or

N 41° 36.433' E 041° 36.516' (Lat Long Decimal)

The instructor asks for entering

N 41 36 26 and E 041 36 31

which is wrong.

He should ask for entering

N 41 36 43 and E 041 36 52

which would be corred (rounded values of Lat Long Decimal = what's the aircraft uses)

throughout the campaign I'm relying on the coordinates mentioned in the briefing. Are they correct for all missions ? should I be relying on them in future ?

I don't go to F10 or F2 for this

F10 will show correct coordinates if you have DCS configured to display lat/long in decimal. By default I do not think this is the case.

See this video at the 25s mark:

You should use Lat/Long Decimal, and not the normal ones which are provided now.

The difference is not high enough for you to feel the difference (at least as far as waypoints are concerned) but I am currently working on new version of kneeboard files for all missions (+ briefing pictures with starting positions).
