CucoNegron6924 Posted January 5, 2017 Posted January 5, 2017 Hi, guys/gals: I'm a noob. I can finally takeof more or less OK most of the times and land where the Huey wants to, no arguments from me!! And I'm verry happy with this Helo. So, for the last two weeks I have been trying to create a mission or scenario in which I start from KLAS, the engine is shut down, no enemies, no weather, no nothing. All I want to do is start-up the Huey, depart and fly arround doing nothing in particular, just fly arround. Simple, right? I have read the manual, particularly the Mission Editor section to no avail. Granted, it might be because of my age, but I find the manual very confusing. When I try to save whatever I do with Mission Editor is not saved in my comp. I have to save it, not in the ED's file structure, but I have to use a temp dir, then move it inside ED's directory. Could somebody, please tell me where to find the solution to this problem? Or tell me how to do this? Thanks in advance, Cuco Negron San Juan, PR
grunf Posted January 5, 2017 Posted January 5, 2017 By default, the missions are saved in c:\users\your name\saved games\DCS.version\missions. If you don't see this folder when you try to save the mission, you can navigate to it like you would in the windows explorer. Sorry if I misunderstood your problem. :D
Robert31178 Posted January 5, 2017 Posted January 5, 2017 A quick cheat would be not to save it. You can run the mission form the editor. You open it up, place you helicopter down, change the location to "start on ramp", change the pilot to yourself instead of AI, and then run it without saving it. A few more steps than saving it, less headaches for those of us who want to practice but are too dumb or impatient to figure out how to us the mission editor properly.....folks like me. ~S

CucoNegron6924 Posted January 5, 2017 Author Posted January 5, 2017 Thanks, grunf and Robert for your quick reply. Finaly, grunf, Thanks for telling me the location of the saved missions. Robert, I'll try your method, as soon as I find where to change the location to "start on ramp", Oh, I have seen it before, I just don't remember where!!! I'm sure it's an age thing... Thanks again, grunf and Robert, for your help. Cuco Negron San Juan, PR

CucoNegron6924 Posted January 5, 2017 Author Posted January 5, 2017 Thanks, grunf, did it!!! Took me a while, but did it. One more question, can I save that mission and fly it later? Thanks again, guys, without your help, this would have been impossible!!! Cuco Negron San Juan, PR
grunf Posted January 5, 2017 Posted January 5, 2017 Glad it worked :). Sure, you can save it and fly later. Just click on the File (top left of the screen), Save as. You can then open it from Mission editor or directly from the Main menu.
