SageOT Posted January 8, 2017 Posted January 8, 2017 As the title says... Long story shortish... I tried changing the grease on the stick for the first time. Wasn't careful enough and got some grease into the jst connector where the wires from the shift registers connect to the main board. While trying to clean it out I damaged the main board beyond my ability to repair it. I just sent a message to TM. Anybody had to replace the main board before? How long did it take them to get back to you? What do they charge for it? mr_mojo97 Posted January 8, 2017 Posted January 8, 2017 Yeah I had an electrical spike a couple of years ago - wrecked my TM throttle main board (and slew control), 2 Leo bodnar X boards and my G27 wheel main board - all were plugged into a powered adaptor (which also fried). TM were really good- I had to pay about £95 I think plus postage for the main board and that fixed all but the slew control - they sent me a switch for £15 but it didn't work so I presume it was the board in the throttle grip that's bust but they wanted another 35 for that. I've not flown the hog since. Anyways I found them helpful and quick to despatch, about a week or so from phone call to delivery to the UK. SageOT Posted January 25, 2017 Author Posted January 25, 2017 Well after a slow start TM got back to me and we're pretty quick to respond from that point on. $60 bucks later and a new main board and 6pin DIN on the way. More money than I hoped but still cheaper than a new stick by far. Now just to get it back together. Yikes. ;) VFA-25 Fist of the Fleet[sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Virtual Carrier Strike Group One | Discord

I should have done what you did, would have saved some bucks. Hopefully I don't eff up installing the new one. Side note, if you are more careful than me I highly recommend doing the re-grease on the stick. It's smooth as he'll now. :) VFA-25 Fist of the Fleet[sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Virtual Carrier Strike Group One | Discord

I purchased another stick only off of a guy on Ebay that was selling new ones, as a button crapped out on mine, and man the gimbal on that one was rough as it could be. I thought so this is what guys are complaining about as I never thought mine was bad that way. So I just replaced my grip with the new one of that gimbal. SageOT Posted January 25, 2017 Author Posted January 25, 2017 Yeah mine was good for years then finally started with the "stick-tion." I'm glad they sent the parts. I thought about trying VKB or those new guys that just announced on here. Honestly though my favorite thing about the Warthog is how small the base is. I'm working on home cockpit build 3.0 and the Hog is sooooooo freaking easy to mount on anything. I was unlucky with the timing. Would have loved to find a broken Hog on Ebay but no one had one up at the time. VFA-25 Fist of the Fleet[sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Virtual Carrier Strike Group One | Discord

SageOT Posted February 8, 2017 Author Posted February 8, 2017 So, I'm stupid and bricked my Warthog. So I received a new main board and 6pin. Soldered the wires on the 6pin wires (very quickly and poorly but they are connected). Hooked up the new stuff and..... $&@&$!?)$. Same issue as before. Axis work but press a button and nothing. Except for the first detent of the trigger. Press it and all the buttons light up (in windows) at once. I said f*ck it and ordered a new stick. Anybody have a guess as to what is still wrong? Grounding issue? Figure if I can eventually fix it I can at least eBay the sucker. :) Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk VFA-25 Fist of the Fleet[sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Virtual Carrier Strike Group One | Discord
