zaelu Posted November 3, 2006 Author Posted November 3, 2006 Well... making sectors biger than 50KMs would bring some issues... One will be mirrorig such a big palette of versions as most probable some will want a 600DPI version some a 300DPI... then maybe some will want a letter format slice :D (I am building an A4 slice) Second will be the actual usefulness... I think beyond 100KM you could position yourself relative to a big city or mark as the whole map has about 1000KM width and the precision for ground pounding, even using "numpad subdivisioning" will decrease. But If people will ask I'll do it as is not very complicated... it actualy uses less sectors/numbers. egaRim Posted November 4, 2006 Posted November 4, 2006 great work, zaelu! on you last preview, there would be no need to put a zero in front of the row-numbers, e.g. instead of A05 -> A5 would be sufficient looking forward for a letter format version, too!

zaelu Posted August 3, 2007 Author Posted August 3, 2007 :) well, the roads are kinda 95% finish... for months... but, due to real life bumping and some lasyness I didn't finished it yet. But.. since you asked... I'll try this weekend? :D [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] I5 4670k, 32GB, GTX 1070, Thrustmaster TFRP, G940 Throttle extremely modded with Bodnar 0836X and Bu0836A, Warthog Joystick with F-18 grip, Oculus Rift S - Almost all is made from gifts from friends, the most expensive parts at least
GregP Posted August 3, 2007 Posted August 3, 2007 That would be great, I've been looking forward to this too.
zaelu Posted August 3, 2007 Author Posted August 3, 2007 OK, I managed to clean the last 5% of the map cities and roads that remained. As I said, the roads have been made automaticaly by simply selecting the color of them but, no matter how I tweaked the tool, some small dots were selected within the cities and aside of the roads making the thing a little bit "spoty" so I had to select those unwanted pixels and delete them. Also some parts of the roads (small) wouldn't want to select due to some color filtering thingie and such so I had to paint them manualy over with some "pencil" tool. So you might see some "hand" touch :D , hopefuly not . The final "roads" layer is touched with a "stroke" style so it gets thiker so the roads can be better vizible when printing due to the DPI of the printers. Anyway... those are tehnical stuff... :) This is a jpg of the final map. Is 100% quality jpg made with irfanview. http://bayimg.com/naFIMAaBd Click the Thumb to see the true... monster size :D (I hope you PC will cope with it), the Browser will have pauses wile you try to do it, then save the picture as usualy. WARNING! the picture has almost 50MB in size so although some people have broadband and the download could take few seconds some might think the PC had frozen :) . Tell me if you can open it and eventualy print something... I sugest cutting a part of it. Actualy... I will post shortly a cutted part so you can print on a A4 page to see how it looks. I post this to ask you if you can open it and eventualy print it. I am thinking to realease a layered version so it could be used freely. zaelu Posted August 3, 2007 Author Posted August 3, 2007 Ok, here is the small cut so you can print to get an ideea: http://bayimg.com/aafjgAaBd It will fit a A4 page at 300dpi perfectly. Don't forget to click the resized image so you will get the actual picture... then save it. Tell me what you think. Keep in mind is just a small piece ;) P.S. I make a double post to bump it so you will see. GregP Posted August 3, 2007 Posted August 3, 2007 zaelu, Thanks for the quick work! I'll have to wait about 8 hours until I get home to download it, though, as that site is blocked here at work for "pornography". (?) Will reply here when I get to it tonight.
zaelu Posted August 4, 2007 Author Posted August 4, 2007 :D Is true that they don't censor thigs (bayimg) and might have some xx pictures on the site but, I doubt that is already on the black list because is quite a young hosting site. Make shure you get into the settings and choose to see all the content, even "offensive" if the images don't show. I chosed this host because it has a 100MB limit for a picture... Quite big... GregP Posted August 4, 2007 Posted August 4, 2007 zaelu, I was able to download both pictures, but the bigger one only shows up as 11MB, are you sure yours in 50MB? Even this 11MB one, though, seems to eventually crash the programs I try to open it with when I try to zoom in close. What program do you use to view it?
zaelu Posted August 6, 2007 Author Posted August 6, 2007 At my side it's working. I have an 2.4GHz CPU, 2GB of RAM and plenty of hard drive space. I am using for viewing and small image manipulations "Irfan View", which is free sleak and very stable. I can open with it even the big 650MB bitmap version of the file witouth any problems. You can find the program here: http://www.irfanview.com/ . Make shure when installing to uncheck any toolbars (usualy the ebay) it may offer as it is using those little "gatherers" to make some "fair cash".... the program is free. This is the JPG opened in Irfan View at my PC (original screenshot was at 1680X1050): later edit... Hmm... now I see the image on bayimg was changed with a more compressed one. Indeed it has only 11MB and a lot of jpg artefacts. OK, no problem. I still have some last minute finishing touches to do on it so when it will be good to go I will uploadit archived somewhere else. It also shows in browser as a pure orange picture :D but, saved it looks ok (not crashing the viewer) but very poor quality. kaos.dll Posted August 6, 2007 Posted August 6, 2007 Some time ago we started to do the same thing by ourself.... We decided to to it in black/white and with a smaller grid. Here's a preview how it look like: http://rapidshare.com/files/47294338/tmCube_NavGrid_Preview.pdf.html (2 MB PDF... its very compressed, the quality of the original one is much better) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
GregP Posted August 6, 2007 Posted August 6, 2007 zaelu, Glad to hear that there was something wrong with the upload, I couldn't figure out what was going wrong! If uploading a 50MB file doesn't work to that site, you might try http://www.megaupload.com, I've been using them for a while with no problems. Thanks!
zaelu Posted August 12, 2007 Author Posted August 12, 2007 OK, the version 2.0 is out. Roads are wider now and appear when printed and map is now sectorized. You can find it at www.virtual-jabog32.de and at www.lockonfiles.com Notes: 1. I hope the description on virtual-jabog32.de is not too big, if this is the case maybe an admin there is kind enough to short it a bit... let's say we lose the version 1.0 part. Sorry for it and thanks for hosting. 2. The Lockonfiles link will be updated once the file is completly uploaded and approved by admin. Also thanks for hosting. 3. Although I said in the readme that is intended for printing it can be used in any way you like, such as in "touchbuddy" par example. 4. A cutted to A4 multiple pages PDF version is due to release once I find a good way to do it :D . The thing with this version is I don't find it really usable since one's got to use a normal desktop printer that will eat a ton of ink/tonner and the quality will be a bit lower. Also the glueing together part would be a pain in the back too. Printing the whole thing in a specialized place from where you can go home with the whole thing is the best option I think. Nevertheless I will try to do it. Best regards. zaelu. P.S. I hope you like it :) later edit. Unfortunately the LockonFiles.com upload failed somehow. I will not try again for now as I fear it will repeat. The site is looking like after a car bomb attack :D in Opera (my favourite browser) and although I had tried in Firefox (which renders it ok) the upload pop up just failed, returning after one and a half hour to the original blank point. Very frustrating. I don't know what the problem was.... maybe a temporal fail. Please someone at LockOnFiles check the Opera compatibility, it used to work. sorry for the vent :) . here is a picture with the site in Opera: [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] I5 4670k, 32GB, GTX 1070, Thrustmaster TFRP, G940 Throttle extremely modded with Bodnar 0836X and Bu0836A, Warthog Joystick with F-18 grip, Oculus Rift S - Almost all is made from gifts from friends, the most expensive parts at least
