Spare part computer for trying DCS

First of all I want to say: this seem like a great forum with very helpful members!

 

I’m new to flight sims and computer gaming and want to try if it is something for me. Instead of using like 1114 dollars to pay for a brand new computer my plan is to buy used parts for a cheaper setup until I know if its something for me.

 

What I’m looking for is:

 

Smooth gameplay at 1080P on medium detail settings. Im mainly interested in flying the AJS 37 aircraft.

 

I would prefer to use a Nvidia GPU and a Intel CPU.

 

Whats the lowest I can go in terms of RAM, CPU and GPU to be able to play the game with the demands above?

Im aware of those specs but in reality they doesn't tell me much. What will the minimum system requirement get me?

You need at least a fast i5 or i7 CPU, best is the "K" version so you can also overclock to around +/- 4.5 GHz.

 

8GB RAM is only OK if you have options to go 16GB. Many many in here learned the lesson that RAM cannot be substituted. My honest recommendation is 16GB.

 

Any SSD ! Dont put DCS on a HDD. This sim is far to i/o dependant for slow drives

 

Any good GPU with 4GB or better. I can run QHD with my 980GTX pretty good, I would like to have a 1080 but I am fully satisfied at that resolution with my GPU and VRAM.

 

A used 980Ti for 250€ would be great. My pal next door just did that and he loves it :)

 

...and yes...OS must be 64bit !
