REDEYE_CVW-66 Posted February 14, 2017 Posted February 14, 2017 I understand the principle of this feature, but not how it is practically implemented. Was in not possible to push the throttle beyond the 'gate' to recieve a significant power boost. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/War_emergency_power Is this implemented in DCS now (The full extent of the thottle/boost) or will it be a later feature?
Sokol1_br Posted February 14, 2017 Posted February 14, 2017 (edited) This is already in Mk.IXe, the throttle full forward in full power + boost (in generic game language is 110%, considering 100% is full throttle but no WEP), watch the Boost Pressure gauge. In Spit Mk.I/II quadrant has a movable red lever that block throttle lever movement for engage boost. Is need lift up that lever before be able to move throttle lever full forward. In Mk.IX is just a slight S in quadrant rail for inform the pilot - be feel - that he is near boost zone, pressing the throttle lever against the S will move the throttle lever slight for left and can reach the boost zone - throttle all open - when your engine goes south fast if don't watch temps. :) Some planes has a toggle switch in panel for engage WEP (think is P-51 case) but not Spit's. REDEYE_CVW-66 Posted February 15, 2017 Author Posted February 15, 2017 Exactly. Very informative- thank you!
gavagai Posted February 15, 2017 Posted February 15, 2017 Some planes has a toggle switch in panel for engage WEP (think is P-51 case) but not Spit's. FYI, in the P-51 you cannot toggle WEP. Once you break the wire your new 100% throttle is WEP. I didn't know how it worked in the Spit, so thanks!
