ground attack modes.. changing ???

In the training mission I was missing before and after the target a lot. Then playing multiplayer in a mission that I "believe" had 0 wind set, I was way off to the sides. But then again, I might just suck.

 

 

And if CCIP can't factor in the winds (not surprising), why would CCRP? It wasn't so much that I was missing with CCIP, but that I was way more accurate with CCRP.

So... the training mission does have upper altitude winds set which will have an effect:

 

 

 

When I flew the mission, I could sometimes see my aircraft drifting a bit and the bombs will do the same. Tried it using CCRP as well and, again, the bombs ended up landing just about where I expected them to, depending on my drop altitude and direction of flight. To my eye, both CCIP and CCRP seem equally effected.

Ok, I was probably missing something or doing something wrong. I'll chalk it up to having only a dozen hours or so in the 27, most of which being A2A, compared to what I'm used to in the 25s.

 

I really wish I could play more in the sim, but I'm procrastinating too much as it is in real life.

You and me both. :) There's so much in it that I'd like to explore more fully.

This is one area where I think ED could legitimately come in for some gentle criticism. A training mission for A-G in the Su-27 should not have wind. Training missions for an aircraft that, let's face it, can be a real handful for new pilots to fly should build up one concept at a time. Introducing the need to carry out visual / dead-reckoning corrections for wind drift on top of roll in / turn out patterns and CCIP / CCRP release modes is a mistake.

 

I keep meaning to write my own mission for A-G training in the Su-27. Maybe now is the time.
