AI damage model messed up

Running DCS 2.0.5.3889 Update 4

 

My own mission (1v1 guns both M2K) that has never had this problem before; I took the wing off and he continued to fly fine, only went down when I managed to gun his engine from exactly 6 oclock. Took a screenshot but I cleared the clipboard before pasting it in to paint :doh:

 

Is it a known bug at this time, the damage model?

yes, this is a known issue and ED are working on improving it, but it takes time.
