Mustang Posted December 14, 2006 Posted December 14, 2006 http://ati.amd.com/support/drivers/xp/radeonx-xp.html just checked to see if they were there, and they were :) currently downloading them
Mustang Posted December 15, 2006 Author Posted December 15, 2006 And yet again, a solid driver for my X800XT/nforce3 rig, no problems running these with lockon or any other propgram i have. One interesting thing, the "newer" AA modes are slightly more evolved, especially the "EATM" and "ALPHASHARPENMODE" modes, check out these threads for more info http://www.driverheaven.net/showthread.php?t=125073 and http://www.rage3d.com/board/showthread.php?t=33876334
Ukr_Alex Posted December 15, 2006 Posted December 15, 2006 I like it. With 6.11s my AA looked odd. Seems nice and smooth now :) :Core2Duo @ 435FSB x 7 3.05GHz : ATI x1900xtx: 2GB Patriot @ 435Mhz : WD 250Gb UATA: Seagate 320Gb SATA2: X-Fi Platinum:
Guest IguanaKing Posted December 15, 2006 Posted December 15, 2006 My AA looks better now too. I lost about 500 points in 3DMark06, but thats OK, I'm still well over 10,700. :D It doesn't make a difference in LOMAC anyway except for the max. frame rate.
Mustang Posted December 21, 2006 Author Posted December 21, 2006 Did a small test to see if the EATM Anti-Aliasing method affects LOMAC's graphics engine, seeing as it does use Alpha Textures to an extent, and in the case i've found, the perimeter fences around the airfields. The differences are shown in the following 2 pics : First, taken WITHOUT the EATM setting enabled, check out how the fence looks jaggy and suddenly "cuts off" as it draws it further away Now, with the EATM method enabled (Via Advanced tweaks in ATI Tray Tools/New AA/AF Methods) you can see that the fence texture looks much more cleaner, less jaggy and the fadeout to distance is much more correct The difference in FPS by enabling this method, if anything i've found, is a slightly higher FPS with the resulting image quality enhancements, i'm still in the process of finding what else it improves on (anything that uses alpha textures within the engine). EDIT : Screengrab of where to locate the setting within ATI Tray Tools
Guest IguanaKing Posted December 21, 2006 Posted December 21, 2006 Oh, incidentally, I have gone back to 6.11 after getting random lock ups in LOMAC, along with frequent occurences of no text in the "warning" boxes in the various menus. Edit: Ever since installing a 2nd card, I now have 16X AA available, but I haven't actually tried it out yet to see what it looks like.
Guest Hell Sqn Protos Posted December 21, 2006 Posted December 21, 2006 S~! Stang Thank you sir, very helpful post. Rep inbound.
Guest Hell Sqn Protos Posted December 22, 2006 Posted December 22, 2006 S~! Just finished some testing, and indeed there is a nice boost of 6-8 frames with significantly improved image quality. I found this particularly so in cockpit in the F15. Performance down low is good with perhaps a slight fps hit of a couple of frames, but I think its just a matter of optimizing and that with the next few driver releases this feature will really take off. Overall very impressed and pleased. Ati fighter jocks this is de regeur.
