Sorry for the non-vr related question, but I've been wondering for some time what the best way to update DCS when new versions come out.

What I mean is, I've heard mention of deleting the saved games folder every time you update. Is that right? My biggest concern in my control settings. Even though I use the Warthog, I've got a good amount of customizations, including axis settings, etc.

How do you all deal with this? Do you have your own update method, or is it just ok to let the updater do its thing?

You can grab your control configs & save a backup into a separate folder. Then when you delete your saved files (if that's what you need to do), once you relaunch DCS, you'll be able to go to your controller settings & choose to load your saved/backed up config.

Thanks, makes sense! When loading a backed up control settings, does it account for any keybind changes that may occur in an update? In other words, does it merge them?

Just curious as to why you posted here? VR section is pretty slow traffic and response wise even for VR related questions, you'll get much more assistance if you post in the main forum.
