Are Steam keys now not redeemable for the standalone ED installer?

The Steam sale is currently on and I am looking at the M2000C. If I buy it on Steam, is it possible to use the key with the standalone ED installer? I have most of my keys on Steam, but not all of them so I would only be interested in purchasing if I can use it with the non-Steam ED installer version. I recall reading a while back that you can no longer do this though? Not seeing that info on the Steam page itself though so I just want to be sure.

Starting with the M2000 (which was the first affected) modules bought on Steam cannot be used with standalone. Older modules can still be bought on steam and used with standalone.

Thanks for the reply. Looks like the older modules released before the M2000C can still be activated on the e-shop. I will look and see what else Steam has on discount. :)

That is correct, anything from M2K and newer cannot be redeemed on the standalone.
