too-cool Posted July 12, 2017 Posted July 12, 2017 I was wondering if any of the experts here on skinning would have a tutorial, pdf format for creating a skin for a prop plane. I'm looking for something the instructs from start to finish the creation of a skin that includes everything from the possible tools ie' programs needed including any template that will be required, how to identify the various parts of the template not so much as to how to paint a particular scheme but more or less how to apply the colors. Also more importantly what files need to be change or created when saving the newly created skin for use in DCS. I have been trying for a very long time to learn this technique but get lost every time, what I do know and have learned is what tools/programs one would need to get started. I've viewed the tutorial someone did for the A-10 but that seem to be for individuals who already have some knowledge on creating skins, and it's in a video format which makes it even harder to learn. I know I'm asking for information that some may not want to share but never the less I'm asking. Maybe some of you guys or gals could do a part of the process and post it here and other can fill in other parts, if that could happen I would be more then happy to attempt to put it together in one PDF for the community. A document in writing in this case would be very beneficial and then the video's can be used to reinforce the PDF. WildBillKelsoe Posted July 12, 2017 Posted July 12, 2017 you need to watch Crash Laobi or Fish channels on youtube. As for specifics of areas to paint, ED model viewer should at least help visualise. As for creating a color map for the different areas, well that probably needs a mapped psd. I think you need GIMP, DXTBmp, Notepad ++. From the back of my head excuse me. Double dash is friendly, Single dash is enemy. Circle is friendly. Strobe is jammer. Strobe to dash is under 35 km. HDD is 7 times range key. Radar to 160 km, IRST to 10 km. Stay low, but never slow.
