BuzzU Posted August 2, 2017 Posted August 2, 2017 It's moaning and groaning like a sick cow. It works and looks perfect otherwise. Is it going out? Buzz

Wigean Posted August 2, 2017 Posted August 2, 2017 I`ve heard monitor noise can be caused by failed grounding in the speakers.
cichlidfan Posted August 2, 2017 Posted August 2, 2017 I`ve heard monitor noise can be caused by failed grounding in the speakers. That would lead to the first important question. Does the monitor have speakers? If yes, are they muted? BuzzU Posted August 2, 2017 Author Posted August 2, 2017 I don't believe it does have speakers. Now it's being quiet. I'll have to see if it does it again in the morning and that will tell us it does it before it really warms up. It's shut off every night. Buzz
Hadwell Posted August 2, 2017 Posted August 2, 2017 (edited) if it's making wierd noises it's usually because there's something overheating/failing could be a bad capacitor or because a transformer is vibrating, the transformers have metal sheets instead of solid metal cores, sometimes one of the plates comes loose, and then the magnetic field from the coil causes the loose plate to vibrate... or if your monitor isn't an LED backlit one, one of the lights could be failing... there's many things that could be wrong... the fact that the noise goes away when it's on for a while tells me it's an electrolytic capacitor that's failing, but no real way to tell without checking... if it is a bad capacitor, eventually it will short and blow a resistor or fuse or worse, blow an IC Edited August 2, 2017 by Hadwell My youtube channel Remember: the fun is in the fight, not the kill, so say NO! to the AIM-120. BuzzU Posted August 2, 2017 Author Posted August 2, 2017 Ok, thanks. Hopefully, it will last long enough until I can afford to buy a new one. Always something. Bear hunting season is next month and it's sucking up all my spare cash. Buzz
