I don't know what Pilotasso is on about. Switch your radar to TWS, you will see target alttiude written above the target.

'Lock' the target in TWS (we call it a bug, not a lock, because it is not like an STT lock) and fire when in range - make sure you keep moving the antenna to keep bandit within the scan zone (the antenna should automatically center on target, but in LO this is not modelled)

If target is closer than 15nm, especially if closer than 10nm, you should probably switch to STT or use close combat modes.

The AMRAAM is very short ranged in LO, so you must be very careful when attacking since you are forced to come closer to the target than a Su-27 or MiG-29.

THX, unfortunately I`ve already known this, and I thought it is a kind of "secret" tricks:) , which helps me in Visual without "X"

Hehe, I'm not sure what else to tell you. For specific tactics you may wish to simply fly with an F-15 pilot :)

Ach, "we`ll have to live with this" © Oleg Maddox:D I understand, but is there ane mod, which changes the situation with fast identification in VS i.e.?

OH! Are you talking about lack of IFF in STT modes? Unfortunately no :(

Not modelled :( You must either go to RWS/TWS or you must fly close to opponent and check markings on wings.

Of course no:) , I know this too, I`ve asked only about tactics,

Nevertheless, is it a chance to create a mod which helps us?

Yes, it is possible - I can, for example, display country of target (not coalition, but country) on my G15 keyboard.

For tactics, I suggest working in pairs, at the very least - try not to shoot beyond 0,5rmax if you can, and crank a lot (put target on radar gimbals) and use a vertical S maneuver (not split S, just slalom) to drain enemy missile of energy. It is good to fire from high, then quickly dive.

Please, tell me, how i can sucsessful use this plane in BVR or in Visual.

Yesterday, i`ve asked Pilotasso and he wrote me that i should "put the designator cursor next to the enemy after locking him up and take not of his altitude, then switch to TWS with antenna aimed at that altitude, then fire"

What does it mean "...next to enemy.." , i don`t understand, how i can use cursor after locking, it will disappeared, wont it?

Write me you tips or ideas of flying that hard fighter.

The target designator should be close to the aircraft your targeting. In real planes you dont need to do this, but since LOMAC doesnt have auto tilt antenna, placing the cursor next to the target gives you a better idea about how the antenna should be best aimed, up or down. If you dont youll be watching wrong altitude limits (i.e. minimum and maximum scan altitudes ) and give you the impression the target disapears at 20 miles.

What hapens is that the Scan altitude limits is different depending how far the cursor is from the bottom of the MFD (try it and see them change with distance), if the cursor is not near the target, these limits might not be the correct ones by the targets distance to you. Ices track (see online track thread) shows how in the first engagement a high altitude bandit slips above the radars view cone because hes thinking the antenna is well aimed but its not. If he had the cursor next to the target he could have seen that it was about to leave the viewcone.

Dogs, the trick I teached you (tryied to) is for IFF at short ranges (say 6-10 miles) because you cant otherwise (games fault). Basicaly the trick consists of the technique above, lock him up, take note of his altitude (remenber cursor next to target), unlock and swich to either TWS or RWS, then tilt so that the targets altitude is between the scan limits, by this time it should apear on radar again, if its rectangle its enemy, re-lock again (if its hostile confirmed just swich to bore mode) and fire.

Special observation:

Try it at 10 miles with a big altitude displacement to the target. When your confortable with it, learn how to use azimuth scan limits, the norrower mode gives you triple the detection speed, and you can slew it sideways so you an aim the antenna to the sides.

I have 1 hat on my X52 to do up/down antenna aim, and azimuth lateral aim (basicaly the same as tilt but horizontaly) heres how I set up that hat:

^

I Tilt up

I Tilt down

V

-> Azimuth scan right

<- Azimuth scan left

and you need to have another button to maximize/minimize azimuth (watch the small 2 circles at the bottom of the radar, they show the azimuth apperture)

The right stick programing and practice will allow you to give major upsets to those migs flying down low trying to sneak under your radar, its realy fun. :)

Thx, Pilotasso, I use my X52 the same:), I use the hat on throttle for this

Heres an example of me tracking a bandit very low from a very high altitude.

99% of the people would have let him pass under the radar and get shot in the belly.

Picture is filled with legends for better understanding.

It will feel very alien to you, I made it with a very open mind. :D

Will send PM with it.

Edit: cant send files in PM's so Ill do it here.

Mode 1 is for F-15, Mode 2 is for russian Migs/Su's

Mode 3 is for Su-25T,

warning, still work in progress, I ommited alot of command other people usualy use for the frog. Mini stick is used for cocpkpit views so you need to activate mouse in the game for this.

GG, How in heaven do you do this?

I have a G15 (wonderful) keyboard and I havent found any use of the little display (except one thing: I change my system's time 30'' before entering a mission to reflect exact mission time and I can have a precise in-mission clock on the little display).

One thing that I really use: I have mapped all AI communication macros to the 18 keys and it is quite useful to ask AWACS vector to nearest bandit or to ask your wingman to execute mission and rejoin, for example, at the press of only one button...

thanks and happy new year!
