BigDuke6ixx Posted September 16, 2017 Posted September 16, 2017 Any plans for Touch support in cockpit? Like Flyinside: Why would you want to use touch controllers? That would be totally immersion breaking. Hopefully we'll have hand tracking before too long.
johnco61 Posted September 16, 2017 Posted September 16, 2017 Yes hand tracking or gloves would be ok but I don't think touch would work well for me
Pinello Posted September 16, 2017 Author Posted September 16, 2017 Why would you want to use touch controllers? That would be totally immersion breaking. Hopefully we'll have hand tracking before too long. Touch are here, a "standard", and working. The rest is wishware (yes, I know of Leap Motion)
BigDuke6ixx Posted September 16, 2017 Posted September 16, 2017 Touch are here, a "standard", and working. The rest is wishware (yes, I know of Leap Motion) Stupid way of doing it IMO. Until glove tracking comes out I either use the head mouse control in conjunction with Voiceattack commands or I just reach forward to my touchpad mouse. Why would I want to fumble about with a Touch controller at all? I don't think you've thought this through.
MurderOne Posted September 16, 2017 Posted September 16, 2017 I saw something interesting regarding this topic recently. I had my touch controllers still active when I started DCS, though I was unaware of the fact. I took the A-10C, and the touch controllers manifested as gloves in the cockpit. You could move them about, but they didn't position properly to do anything. They were flight style gloves, so it seems they belonged in game. Would have been cool to be able to use them haha. Sorry, no cool signature here.
Pinello Posted September 16, 2017 Author Posted September 16, 2017 (edited) ... I don't think you've thought this through. Seems like the guys in Flyinside who put their money where their mouth is, has done some thinking through..: Edited September 16, 2017 by Pinello fix 1

It's a placeholder for glove tracking apparently.

SpeedStick Posted September 16, 2017 Posted September 16, 2017 (edited) I don't get these arguments. They seem so narrow minded. OP post a question and video showing a working concept. People reply that it will never work or isn't perfect, because they don't like it? A fitting analogy would be that the FOV is to small in Oculus and we should've just scrapped VR untill we have full realistic FOV. Would touch controllers be perfect? No. Would a lot of users like it? I believe so (?). Can we have both gloves and Touch controllers? Yes. Pretty cool once it gets here though: Edited September 16, 2017 by SpeedStick "Hard to imagine bigger engine. its got a beautiful face and an arse built like sputnik." - Pikey AKA The Poet, on 37 Viggen.
