bunraku Posted October 27, 2017 Posted October 27, 2017 Hi Just reinstalled DCS and the A-10C after a year and a half. It's amazing how much you forget in that time. I am finding the A-10C a bit unstable at the moment just in the quick instant actions. I am having to heavily trim and can't seem to get a decent level flight going. I haven't assigned any dead zones or curves. I am also using Saitek Pro Rudder Pedals and have given them a deadzone of 5 and curve of 15. Although that was after the previous flights. I don't think the rudders the issue, but seems to be all down to the Joystick. Any best settings or suggestions? Or maybe I just thought it was easier to fly the last time. :) Thanks
hansangb Posted October 27, 2017 Posted October 27, 2017 First things first. Go into the controller setup and make sure DCS didn't duplicate controls to multiple devices. hsb HW Spec in Spoiler --- i7-10700K Direct-To-Die/OC'ed to 5.1GHz, MSI Z490 MB, 32GB DDR4 3200MHz, EVGA 2080 Ti FTW3, NVMe+SSD, Win 10 x64 Pro, MFG, Warthog, TM MFDs, Komodo Huey set, Rverbe G1
bunraku Posted October 28, 2017 Author Posted October 28, 2017 Thanks. Nothing duplicated. I am just finding it not the easiest to handle. Even on a no wind mission I am having to trim a lot. Maybe I'm expecting too much from the Hawg after such a long absence.
hansangb Posted October 28, 2017 Posted October 28, 2017 Is it smooth in Windows, Control Panel, joystick calibration? hsb HW Spec in Spoiler --- i7-10700K Direct-To-Die/OC'ed to 5.1GHz, MSI Z490 MB, 32GB DDR4 3200MHz, EVGA 2080 Ti FTW3, NVMe+SSD, Win 10 x64 Pro, MFG, Warthog, TM MFDs, Komodo Huey set, Rverbe G1
bunraku Posted October 29, 2017 Author Posted October 29, 2017 (edited) Seems to be. One think I noticed when checking my control surfaces is that when pushing the stick backward and forward that not only the Elevators on the tail moved up and down, but sometimes the Ailerons on the wings. So that's not normal surely. So looks like I need to put a small dead zone in for the bank axis?? Is it just me or is the Hog unstable? I am having to trim trim trim and never seem to get a decent stretch of level flight. Are there any good sources of info on trimming? I lean left, so trim right, but it's like I've trimmed too far right and now lean right, even though literally 1 or 2 short presses. Edited October 29, 2017 by bunraku
hansangb Posted October 30, 2017 Posted October 30, 2017 You should open a ticket with TM for the recalibration tool like this guy https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1088248&postcount=8 hsb HW Spec in Spoiler --- i7-10700K Direct-To-Die/OC'ed to 5.1GHz, MSI Z490 MB, 32GB DDR4 3200MHz, EVGA 2080 Ti FTW3, NVMe+SSD, Win 10 x64 Pro, MFG, Warthog, TM MFDs, Komodo Huey set, Rverbe G1
bunraku Posted October 31, 2017 Author Posted October 31, 2017 I tried calib tool. My Hog seems very unstable. No Wind and I am having to trim all the time and am finding straight and level very hard. Is there anything you guys can suggest. Might be the rudder on my Saitek pedals I suppose. I just tried it in arcade mode and flew steady so maybe it is the avionics or weather, but I can't remember it being this hard to fly straight. It's constantly going 1 side or the other.

Bulldog_1 Posted November 1, 2017 Posted November 1, 2017 It's not just me then. I have the same problem on other aircraft too. :helpsmilie: DELL OptiPlex AIO 7410: i5-12500T 2.00GHz: 2TB SSD: 64GB RAM: UHD 770 1920x1080 @ 60Hz: ThrustMaster HOTAS X: IRL Retired Maintainer of the AT-38B: F-4E/G: F-15A/B/C/D: and McDonnell Douglas/Boeing Technical Advisor for the F-15C/D. bunraku Posted November 1, 2017 Author Posted November 1, 2017 I've posted a video below. There is no wind and no payload. It doesn't pitch much and the trim there isn't too bad. However the bank kicks in eventually. You can also see around the 3.45 mark that it is banking and I do 1 click on the trim in the opposite direction and it eventually starts to bank in that direction. I can't remember it being such an issue and I really don't wanna hang on the stick for a whole mission. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0HXBtKeiy9o
The LT Posted November 3, 2017 Posted November 3, 2017 I see no problems with the video. The aircraft flies properly. For long level flights, you are supposed to be using the autopilot anyway. BuzzU Posted November 3, 2017 Posted November 3, 2017 It looks normal to me too. I will add one thing. As an example....if it's banking to the left and you put in one click of right trim. Don't expect the plane to come back to level. Bring it back to level with the stick. If it came back to level by the trim it would be too much trim and it would keep going past level. So, every time you add a click of trim. Level the plane with the stick and see then how the trim is. It's not a fly by wire plane and it does need to be trimmed a lot. As was said. On long flights use AP. Buzz
bunraku Posted November 9, 2017 Author Posted November 9, 2017 Has anyone got their config file they can send me for the TM Warthog Hotas please. I want to try different settings and see if I can get one that helps. My email is davemcqueen70@gmail.com. Thanks

MoToad Posted November 12, 2017 Posted November 12, 2017 You said you hadn't set any dead zones or curves. That will do a lot to smooth things out.
