Frederf Posted November 1, 2017 Posted November 1, 2017 There are many annoyances to impossible situations created by the limitation that AI cannot be on more than one radio frequency at once. A single AWACS or GCI assigned a single frequency cannot serve two airplanes which only have a single UHF or VHF radio respectively. Many times the MiG-21bis cannot participate in intercepts since the AWACS has been set to 251 MHz, outside of the capability of that radio. Similarly, AI wingmen should follow the unit leader in frequency when the leader (human) changes to another station such as tower, tanker, JTAC, intercept controller, etc. Having to swap back and forth between two frequencies to converse outside the flight is bananas.
