SU33 EROL message on HUD

Cany anyone tell me what this message is...comes up on the top left side of the HUD...using BVR target tracking. It seems to indicate a RADAR unlock...but the LA symbol and ability to launch missiles is not affected....sometimes the ERs track nicely, sometimes Not...with this EROL message...not sure if its related to tracking...Thanks guys

I believe it means radar + thermal tracking, both systems being on.

RL = radar

EO = Electro-optical system

EORL = both systems active

The radar and EOS systems work together. One is selected as primary, the other remains in the background. When radar is the primary sensory channel, it send EOS the targeting information and the target's position in space. If able, EOS maintains it's own lock. Assuming you haven't manually turned EOS on while the radar is active, that symbol (EORL) means that radar has lost the lock but EOS has now taken over as primary and is maintaining the target for you. If you had a missile in the air, it's trashed. If you glance down at the HDD, you'll notice that the target icon is no longer flashing indicating that the missile is no longer tracking.
