Buckeye Posted November 9, 2017 Posted November 9, 2017 As I work towards learning the Warthog now, the Harrier in a few weeks, and eventually the Hornet and Tomcat...I realized my life would be made much easier if I had a way to "Alt+Tab" in VR to watch the YouTube training videos and read the PDF manuals/guides. The only outlet I am aware of to accomplish this in VR would be via a Virtual Desktop -- has anyone tried this with DCS? If so with app/program did you use and what were your thoughts? Hopefully this will help many of us to get ahead of the curve here with all of the upcoming learning we will be doing for our new jets  Rig: SimLab P1X Chassis | Tianhang Base PRO + Tianhang F-16 Grip w/ OTTO Buttons | Custom Throttletek F/A-18C Throttle w/ Hall Sensors + OTTO switches and buttons | Slaw Device RX Viper Pedals w/ Damper Tactile: G-Belt | 2x BK LFE + 1x BK Concert | 2x TST-429 | 1x BST-300EX | 2x BST-1 | 6x 40W Exciters | 2x NX3000D | 2x EPQ304 PC/VR: Somnium VR1 Visionary | 4090 | 12700K
dburne Posted November 9, 2017 Posted November 9, 2017 I use Big Screen myself, but do not use it in combination with flying DCS. Oculus new software - Dash - coming in December is going to make this much easier I think. Interesting, perhaps I should just be patient for now...early December would be fine (Harrier would have only been out for a week or two at that point), but if it drags into late December I will probably grow impatient. Still, it seems like the best option is to just hold off for Dash/Core 2.0. Thanks for calling this out, I had no idea it was coming. Not sure when in Dec likely latter part would be my guess, and it will be beta initially. https://www.oculus.com/blog/introducing-rift-core/ Don B EVGA Z390 Dark MB | i9 9900k CPU @ 5.1 GHz | Gigabyte 4090 OC | 64 GB Corsair Vengeance 3200 MHz CL16 | Corsair H150i Pro Cooler |Virpil CM3 Stick w/ Alpha Prime Grip 200mm ext| Virpil CM3 Throttle | VPC Rotor TCS Base w/ Alpha-L Grip| Point Control V2|Varjo Aero|
Buckeye Posted November 9, 2017 Author Posted November 9, 2017 Most welcome! Not sure when in Dec likely latter part would be my guess, and it will be beta initially. Figured as much, I've gotta figure out a way to learn if it will allow me to switch between DCS and YouTube app...or if the multiple app stuff only works for supported apps like Spotify, Chrome, Facebook, etc. It is just such a PITA to have to take my CV1 on and off constantly when trying to watch video tutorials and read the manuals, as I fail my way along with learning these new jets. If yes, does it function well?
