dresoccer4 Posted December 2, 2017 Posted December 2, 2017 hey guys. i'm flying around messing around with the DMT TV targeting function. im kind of confused on how to designate targets. especially between the TDC Action/No Action and the TDC Down (Action Position) keys. (man they sound similar!) after scrolling with the TDC up/down/left/right keys, does the TDC Down (Action Position) key designate a target position? what does the TDC Action/No Action key do then? all i can tell is it lets you scroll the cursor faster when pressing Sensor Select Aft, does that affect target designation or just turn on a laser? thanks for any help that can be passed my way! -D Acer Predator Triton 700 || i7-7700HQ || 512GB SSD || 32GB RAM || GTX1080 Max-Q || FFB II and Thrustmaster TWCS Throttle || All DCS Modules
mvsgas Posted December 2, 2017 Posted December 2, 2017 TDC down (action position) is like pressing a button, TDC Action/No action is a toggle, so IIRC, you can press it once, and acts as if you held the button down. Sensor Select aft switches between DST: LST and TV. To whom it may concern, I am an idiot, unfortunately for the world, I have a internet connection and a fondness for beer....apologies for that. Thank you for you patience. Many people don't want the truth, they want constant reassurance that whatever misconception/fallacies they believe in are true..

Zeroskills Posted December 2, 2017 Posted December 2, 2017 ah ok, so they're two separate switches? i thought all of the TDC things were 1 switch It's two different ways to operate the same switch. You use the TDC down button if you want to manualy hold the button down yourself. As long as you are holding the assigned button down the switch in the Harrier will be held down, when you let up, the switch in the harrier will let up. If you use the TDC action/no action button the game will hold the same switch down for you. You press the button once and the game hold the button down. When you press the button again the game releases the switch for you.

That way the pilot can depress the 4-way hat and also still use the 4 directions simultaneously. Such a 4+1 way hat switch is rarely seen on joysticks that we use. So to make it easier for us, we can now use any 4-way hat plus any other button for "action/no action" toggle. This avoids awkward situations where you would have to keep one button depressed with one finger and operate an other 4-way hat with another finger. It is just a simplification for us users of gaming hardware.
Chrinik Posted December 2, 2017 Posted December 2, 2017 A similar switch is the CMS on the Warthog Joystick...it has four ways of travel (forward, back, left, right.) and you can click it down like a button... [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] GCI: "Control to SEAD: Enemy SAM site 190 for 30, cleared to engage" Striker: "Copy, say Altitude?" GCI: "....Deck....it´s a SAM site..." Striker: "Oh...." Fighter: "Yeah, those pesky russian build, baloon based SAMs." -Red-Lyfe Best way to troll DCS community, make an F-16A, see how dedicated the fans really are

evilnate Posted May 27, 2018 Posted May 27, 2018 If anyone else finds this issue when searching for something to the effect of "erratic tdc slew" or the like, I found a solution for me. When programming my TM warthog for first time, I normally tune the throttle mini-stick axis curve to prevent over-sensitive movements. For the AV8B, adjustments to the default curve other than inversion seems to break smooth TDC slewing. Point of post If you have erratic TDC slewing in AV8B, set the curve to default linear slope and see if that helps. 1

Don't know if its a problem of the module or the ministick itself 1
