Having issues centering the camera in a forward view.

Fresh Win10 install (1 day old)

Latest stable version of all drivers

Fresh DCS install

I have mapped the TrackIR centre button to the L/G WRN on the throttle and it works kind of as expected, if one were to assume something is telling TIR that the view down right is 'centre'.

Several times in the clip below i use this center, and it keeps centering it to the down right position as if that position is the DCS center point.

Several google searches on the subject suggest deleting a views file/folder in users[username]Save GamesDCSconfig

I my case i'm running open beta, and no such file exists it's save games folder.

In the trackIR app when i hit center the app shows a perfect center.

Running out of ideas.

Anyone?

Customising the Default View

What you've done is selected reset view RShift+Num5 in DCS WH (having not used any snap views since last reset) and then pressed RAlt-Num0 to save your current look direction as the default view.

When you press RAlt-Num0 it will write the current view to the last used snap view (LWin-Num_) or the default if there has been no snap view used since last view reset.

This is stored in SnapViews.lua in the directory mentioned in the SnapViews["A-10C"] = { section, [13] = {--default view

The default values appear to be:

    [13] = {--default view
       viewAngle = 75.000000,--FOV
       hAngle     = 0.000000,
       vAngle     = -23.000000,
       x_trans     = 0.360000,
       y_trans     = -0.041337,
       z_trans     = 0.000000,
       rollAngle = 0.000000,

There is no file named snapviews.lua on my disk.

Are you running 158?

Have you tried only on one mission?

The video clip is from a multiplayer server.

Sorry, no idea what you mean by 158

What Frederf is telling you here is that you have changed where DCS thinks the default center view is for the A-10C. I.E What is the centering position for track IR in a 3d (6DoF) Six degrees of freedom space inside a DCS aircraft.

To test this, pause Trackir and hit number pad 5 key in sim, you will see your view snap down to the right like in your video, as this is now your "default view forward" Num5 and TrackIR go to position now when reset.

When I'm changing my custom positions, I pause TrackIR and move with the keyboard keys, forward, back, up, down in out and the zoom, then save this position using RAlt-Num0 as Frederf said above. You need the save custom snap views ticked on in the DCS settings, which I'm guessing you have.

You can delete the saved views if you want to reset them all, you will lose any saved snap views tho (all aircraft).

C:\Users"YourUserName"\Saved Games\DCS Beta\Config\View

Delete or just move this document to desktop etc "SnapViews.lua" and all the views will be reset, DCS will build another one.

Then when saving a new default TrickIR reset position, Pause TrackIR.

Hit Num Pad 5 to reset back the normal DCS default view position, Hit Number Pad Enter to reset the zoom view.

Move using:

Left Ctrol + Left Shift Number pad * = Move Posittion Forward

Left Ctrol + Left Shift Number pad / = Move Posittion Back

Number pad * = Zoom view in

Number pad / = Zoom view out

Left Ctrol + Left Shift Number pad 8 = Move Posittion Up

Left Ctrol + Left Shift Number pad 2 = Move Posittion Down

Save it using RAlt-Num0.

Un-pause TrackIR, this is your new default TrackIR Centering position for the A-10C. This is the new place TrackIR will go to when you hit the assigned reset button.

What i'd love to do is reset it to a new out of the box position.

Don't care if i loose anything, there is nothing to loose, this is a new install.

How do i reset everything?

Just try this for me in sim v81.

Pause TrackIR using the keyboard assigned button in sim.

Hit Num Pad 5 to reset back the normal DCS default view position , Hit Number Pad Enter to reset the zoom view.

Move the view to where you want it using:

Left Ctrol + Left Shift Number pad * = Move Posittion Forward

Left Ctrol + Left Shift Number pad / = Move Posittion Back

Number pad * = Zoom view in

Number pad / = Zoom view out

Left Ctrol + Left Shift Number pad 8 = Move Posittion Up

Left Ctrol + Left Shift Number pad 2 = Move Posittion Down

Left Ctrol + Left Shift Number pad 4 = Move Posittion left

Left Ctrol + Left Shift Number pad 6 = Move Posittion right

Rotate camera on the spot: Num8, Num2, Num6, Num5 etc

Save it using Hold RAlt than hit Num0.

Un-pause TrackIR, this is your new default TrackIR Centering position for the A-10C. This is the new place TrackIR will go to when you hit the assigned reset button.

You could also get this close by holding your head close to where you need the view to be, then pause TrackIR, then Hold RAlt and hit Num0 to save, this should get you back closer to where you need to be, then adjust manually or use TrackIR, pause and repeat till happy with the TrackIR's reset spot.

Let me know it this makes a new default position when you reset trackir in game, then we know we are on the right path.

This should also build a new file in that folder, Make sure custom user snap views is ticked in options.

Thanks for David, gettign later here and only just checked for updates, will try what you've posted with a fresh brain.

As it stands i have checked a few things and here are some facts.

The issue only affects 1 particular MP server.

Playing on any other server, no issue.

Playing SP, no issue.

I've found i can cause a SnapViews.lua file to be created by creating said views, but once the file is created deleting does not give a default head position in the circumstances causing the fault (particular aircraft/server).

Ok, problem solved.

The problem was indeed due to snapviews.lua .... but with a twist.

It was a snapviews.lua file withing the miz file on the server side.

Just to be clear, server side.

I had no idea such a thing could happen.

Messaging DCS support with this thread lead to a reply suggesting something like that.

And only now, a few minutes ago i got a message from one of our server admins that he's been experiencing the issue too, and confirmed the cause to be just as ED support said.

So if anyone else ends up with this issue, and you have no snapviews lua file, try different servers / miz's and if you fin it's limited to a particular server / mission then this could be the answer.

David and everyone else who contributed, you help is appreciated.
