Hi all!

Was looking everywhere on the Net about information on how to import a lom-File into 3DS Max. Does anyone here have a clue? Or otherwhise, where do i get the Models of the original Su-27?

LOM file is ED's internal format and the specifications are not publicly released, so there is no way to export it to another format.

You can use Zmodeler2 (http://www.zmodeler2.com), download last version, than upgrade it using its updater, and after registering it, you'll be able to import .lom models.

Thanks, can I re-edit some parts of the imported .lom models with 3Ds max 7 ?

Yes, you can export parts using .3ds format.

Zmodeler2 and 3DS Max 7.0

Hi Aim,

I have working copy of Zmodeler2 and 3DS Max 7.0

I have imported some .lom files and edited them in Zmodeler2 then I export to

3DS format file. Then 3DS Max cannot open the files ??

Any Ideas ??

Is the export from Zmodeler2 not for 3DS Max 7.0 but maybee higher Ver. of

3DS Max Ver. XX ??

*.3ds and *.max are two different formats. Only .max files can be accessed via the "open" function in Max 7 - for other formats(including *.3ds) you must use the "import" function instead.

3DS file format;

Alfa,

Thanks for your reply.

I have tried the import function and got "invalid file format" error msg.

This error for smaller files like (smokemark.lom)

On larger .lom files (su25t.lom) for instance I can import it but the imported

file is loaded in a compressed jumble of junk on the editor screens.

Zmodeler2 has no problem opening any of the .lom files.

But when I export to 3ds and import into 3DS Max I have not been successful.

Perhaps I have the wrong config of the 3DS Max ?

I have uploaded SP1 for 3DS Max but that did not fix the problem.

I have not altered any other settings yet ?

Any suggestions for me

Best Regards,

Not a good idea, since others might also want to see the solution. Please, if you really have to talk via E-Mail, then at least post the solution afterwards.
