PoleCat Posted February 5, 2007 Posted February 5, 2007 Let me try to make this very clear to you. I am NOT proposing any one rely on Vista for their gaming right now. I never said that. I would no more rely on Windows Vista right now for my gaming needs then I did on XP on it's day of release. That is a given. I am simply trying to impart my hands on experiences with the full release OS to benefit all here who care to read it. There is a lot of venomn being spat in the community at large in regards to Vista and its poor gaming perfomance on release. Why would any one expect anything else? And actually it is BETTER in this regard then XP was on its release. The OS is stable. The drivers are new, beta and they suck is all. It will not be long before some one can actually make a FAIR assesment of this new OS's true gaming capabilities but at this time due to beta drivers this is impossible to do. That being said over all it looks very very good for the near future IMHO. Out http://www.104thphoenix.com/
TucksonSonny Posted February 5, 2007 Posted February 5, 2007 You are the one talking about vista, i'd talked about drivers. We've tested vista in my office (working at university, 700 computer) and i tell you, it just plain crashed. So no vista for my users this year. Some people will be using XP in 2012 as some people are using Win98 today. I see no reason to move to vista today if one has a running system. Only trouble ahead - read the nVidia fora. I do not argue about vista, i argue about the drivers  Man, even Nvidia calls their drivers beta. And what kind of logic is it that vista is running less worse than XP did some years ago? Nice. I'll join the club when i can be sure the issues are sorted. And if vista is only half as great as you wanna make me believe, then i'm sure it will run just great on my system. Windows 98 2nd edition was indeed a hit but Windows Millennium was a major disaster! Let’s hope that Vista will not be the ME version after the XP-hit! Anyway I would never choose for a Vista 32bit version (rather XP64 or Vista64 and not before real DX10 titles will shelf next summer) Aaaghh, Almost forgot that I am stuck for another year with my old stuff because of extravagant expenses for building the new house! Thus for me it is not a choice anyway :D DELL Intel® Core™ i7 Processor 940 2,93 GHz @3 GHz, 8 MB cache | 8.192 MB 1.067 MHz Tri Channel DDR3 | 512 MB ATI® Radeon™ 4850 | 500 GB 7200 rpm Serial ATA | Samsung SM 2693 HM 25.5 " | HOTAS Cougar Thrustmaster |
