This is what i mean by resolution (rendering not presenting)

We found that using 3 rendering zones with a relative resolution of 100% at the point of gaze and 60% and 20% for our near and far peripheral view are optimal when rendering an HD scene in an HMD.

So its not exactly far fetched that foveated rendering could be handled API and/or driver side.

I looks that for Quest games it's already a reality !!!!!

I hope it will come soon to PC, in all APIs, or in OpenXR at least.

For HP Reverb that would be really great !!!!

From my experience, Eagle Dynamics doesn't implement card manufacture API's so things like NVidia Game Works, wont be used. They would probably have to roll their own implementation so that all customers (NVidia and ATI users) could experience the same level of performance.

I always thought this was because ED was being benevolent to non-nvidia users, but after all the news about ED failing to deliver on expected updates to open beta, I think ED just doesn't have the programming resources available. They're having a hard enough time as it is.

Sorry to reanimate a dead thread.. but I only now saw this, and I have to say..  what a slime ball, entitled, ungrateful, backhanded comment this is.  Is this comment by an actual politician?

This is why I cringe to come to these forums anymore.  If anyone cares about healing a once great community, study this statement as an example of how not to be.

It's a good thing that this is Early Access and we've all volunteered to help test and enhance this work in progress... despite the frustrations inherent in the task with even the simplest of software... otherwise people might not understand that this incredibly complex unfinished module is unfinished. /light-hearted sarcasm
