360 video - How?

Hi all,

 

I saw this video on youtube

 

 

I wondered if anyone has any idea how this was done.

 

I have tried some things but I have not achieved anything. I have contacted the video author as have other viewers, but no replies have been posted.

 

I would love to use this for video from the display team I am in.

quick answer - he's a wizard :D

 

I can't think of a way to do from within DCS itself,

best guess

maybe record the flight and replay from 6 fixed camera angles, throw the replay recording side by side in a video editor and process it like a 360 camera footage,

if you look close you can see the box outline where each video view angle join together,

the joins look like they've been slightly blurred to hide the hard edges

Im pretty sure that you can merge several clips covering the full 360 with some software. I belive Magix supports 360 video rendering.

 

Basically you would need to record 4 videos covering 180 dergress front, 180 back, 180 degrees up and 180 degrees down. Then merge those 4 clips.

 

That is my theory anyways.

Maybe this would work to merge the videos, then edit the 360 video in Magix

For those interested, the YouTuber posted this response....

 

I captured hi-quality video in high resolution with special monitor setup for box projection in "DCS World/Config/MonitorSetup/" and it looked like this https://www.braynzarsoft.net/image/100046 . Then I did remapping from box to cylinder projection, and it began to look like https://area.autodesk.com/dynamic_resources/area_learning_tutorials/1223/content/11505525841.jpg . So you can feed YouTube such projection. The original video should be in a really high resolution because it undergoes severe distortions after remapping

Now that is a cool feature !

 

Should be defacto standard for all vids, with TiR or VR support :)
