My new ISP uses a DS-Lite Tunnel for IPv4 over IPv6, like my old ISP.

Luckily, both allow you to have a public IPv4 Address upon request, Quix ( old ISP ) wanted 1,99€/month, Vodafone now does it for free.

Just in case you are locked behind a CGN, call your ISP and say you need a public IPv4 Address since you need it for Site-to-Site VPN. They would NOT have given me an Address for GAMING purposes. So DO NOT say you are a DCS Armchair Pilot but an IT-Guy working from home.

In my case, both applies, I really need those S-2-S VPN's...and my BTC Core needs 8333 tcp, god damn ;)

I really enjoy 50MB/sec DL speed, this is A W E S O M E :D

Got my public IPv4 @ 50Mbit Upload :D

Wire's glowing for 2.5, more UP than DOWN, which is OK...

Coming from a 9600 Baud Modem in the early 90's this is more than mind blowing.

10..20..40..70MB..DONE jawdrop !!

And why the IPv6 in the topic title? :)

Here in Russia, it would probably take a couple of decades before we get mainstream isp's implement IPv6.

Because if you do not act up you will have limited services available.

I, for example, need several site-2-site VPN that do not work on CGN's, so I cannot work.

Also, no way to run a public DCS server, or any other server, nothing goes without IPv4.

The title has "again" in it because more and more new DSL households do not get a public IPv4 but IPv6 only plus a IPv4 in a tunnel, which basically means, "behind a BIG router", it's then called Carrier Grade Network ( CGN ). It's ok for Grandma and young Tony watching cartoons, but not for IT people or serious gamers....and we had that topic before, several times.

Some ISP give you a IPv4 for free if you ask, some charge you 2€/month, some do not have that option at all. That is a real show stopper, being stranded with IPv6 alone.

As my ISP does! I'm also in Germany using unitymedia. I tried to call them two different times asking for IPv4. No chance!

Maybe it's worth to try it another time telling i need it for the S-2-S VPN ;)

If it works, I owe you a beer, Bit! ;)

I'd maybe try this "My Boss told me to work (part time) from home and we have found out that our company VPN doesnt work on your line because of a NAT'ed IPv4 address. Our IT Guy said I must call you and ask for a public IPv4"....like that...
