  1. I am also trying to get smart smoothing to work with my crystal. If this does not work, i'll return it. Can you explain where i have to set these two lines? Can't really find anything? Thanks a lot for letting us know, that it is at least theoretically possible to have some kind of smoothing!
  2. I've tested and disabled the SCAS in pitch and roll axis. Now it's perfectly stable. For me it seems that the SCAS is causing the helicopter to wobble because it reacts too sluggish and is countering your inputs. That leads to a reaction on the human side to counter the inputs from the SCAS which again leads to a SCAS countering your inputs and so on. This creates a feeling of steadily fighting the helo.
  3. Umso verwunderlicher, dass dieses Mal ein 3rd Party Dev dabei ist. Ich kann mir darauf noch keinen richtigen Reim machen, mal abgesehen davon, dass ich mich freue wie ein Schnitzel!
  4. Well, don't get me wrong. I'm not saying its a bad card in general. For anyone on 1080p or 1440p it might be very good. But for anyone in VR whose concern is also visuals and therefore needs motion reprojection it's really a bad card for the price if that stutter problem still persists. For that specific user I would not recommend buying AMD cards at all. I was really hoping I was wrong and they would have solved this issue with the 7000 series. In that case I would have probably sold my 4090 and bought a 7900XTX myself. But since they haven't, I don't expect it to be solved at all (VR is still just a niche market, and the need for motion reprojection even more). The AMD drivers division is not really big and I think they have other problems at the moment.
  5. Yes. It was on the 6800 and 6900 series as well and the reason why I went to team Green. By the way, this hasn't been fixed ever since. I somehow expected this behavior or was at least afraid it could happen again with the 7000 series. And now it's just confirmed. To be honest, I wouldn't hold my breath that this gets fixed anytime soon.
  6. Sorry, but these are two different setups. I would measure GPU frametimes instead of FPS (to cleaning out any CPU factor) and do a track file and replay that with the headset lying on a table or a mount. No rant here, but this way it's not really comparable.
  7. Nope, there is the low, medium, high and VR preset. I am talking about the high preset. So basically, everything on high, msaa x 2 and terrain shadows to default. The only time I am struggling to keep 45 FPS is low level with the F16 overhead Beirut in Syria.
  8. Depending on what you want. If you want steady 90FPS you're right. If you're okay with 45 FPS reprojection, you can basically tune everything up to high an a HP reverb. I use the high preset and have no problems so far.
  9. If you don't plan to overclock (which really doesn't work out with Ryzen) any B550 or even B450 boards would fit your needs. If you need that extra stuff (rgb, more USB, BIOS preferences etc) you could check the 570s. I am currently running a Asus Prime B450 for around 80€ which is totally fine for me.
  10. Yep, sorry, you're right. Sounded harsh, which wasn't my intention at all. So no offense against anyone. Just wanted to make clear, that openxr works for the majority of players and has proven that it's worth to go that way.
  11. This! Couldn't agree more! We need native OXR in DCS. You must be blind/ignorant if you see no benefits from it.
  12. I benched the difference between terrain shadows off, flat and default in 2.8 today. 'Off' to flat was a difference of 1.5ms GPU frametime. 'Off' to 'default' around 2.5ms. 'Flat' to 'default' around 1.0ms. So it's really not that huge impact for me. Benchmark track was a F16 low level flight overhead Syria.
  13. Thanks! Maybe this is something worth to investigate, although it's just speculation on my side:
  14. That's why I digged it out in the first place. Nothing in regards to motion smoothing/reprojection has changed since 2! years. That's the reason why I don't expect it to work in the 7000 series. But I hope I will be proven wrong in December.
  15. This! Really important! 5800X is absouloutly not the same as the 5800X3D.
  16. Just as a side note: I am running my system with a 750w PSU. Not saying that it comes without any risk. But it's really system dependent. As long as you don't have a water cooler, lots or RGB and a ton of hard drives, you'll be fine. In DCS maximum wattage I've seen so far was 320w from the gpu and about peaks of 80w from the 5800X3D. On average gpu wattage stayed around 200 - 250w depending on where and which model I fly. That's for DCS only. I haven't tested with other games except for MSFS (with similar results). So be advised, it could be a total different story with something like Cyberpunk or other games. But I'm going pretty much off topic here... Sorry!
  17. This! I had a 6900XT when it was released. Compared to the 3090 it had even slightly better rasterization power. BUT: I've experienced the same problems with motion reprojection. Until now, AMD didn't fix this at all. That's the reason why I switched back to NV. Don't get me wrong, there is no NV-fanboyism involved here, but the inability of AMD to fix the drivers kinda sucks. That's the reason why I am not holding my breath for the new generation too although I strongly wish that they would fix it. The 7900XTX would look like the way to go with the current price tag. But not with that huge issue. Here is the old topic where we discussed this issue:
  18. I get the same fps drop whether I use Flat or Default for terrain shadows. The only way to get back to 2.7 performance is with Off. That's my point! In 2.7 you would have noticed a big difference between terrain shadows flat vs default. It seems like since 2.8 the flat shadows aren't giving you any performance boost anymore over default. The result is basically the same. While I benchmarked between 2.7 default and 2.8 default and didn't see much of a performance loss. So my guess would be, that the flat shadows are somehow broken and not general terrain shadows. Since most people used to have them on flat on 2.7 (I did certainly with the rtx 3080) they are now seeing these huge performance drops. People should compare terrain shadows defaul in 2.7 vs terrain shadows default in 2.8 and see if the difference in performance is still that huge. If that's not the case we would know that it's the flat shadows that are broken.
  19. Mhh... Could it be that the worst part of the fps loss is affected by terrain shadows flat and not default? I was benchmarking with default shadows and saw 'only' a loss of 10%. Maybe that's the reason why people like me only had 10% loss and others lost 15fps total. Worth a try. Maybe it helps to pin point down what going wrong. Which would perfectly makes sense in regards to this:
  20. Just as a side note. The RTX 4090 isnt drawing anything near 550w in DCS. I am roughly using 200 - 220 watts in DCS. Even less than my 3080. But I am really curious to see the presentation of AMD too. After all, it all comes down at which price they will be sold.
  21. Ah, totally sorry. Misread it for a 7900X CPU. Yes, I am also curious how the new cards will handle dcs! As for shops, you could have a look at proshop and alza. But I don't know how good the customer service is. I know they are at least rather cheap. Ldlc is also a huge retailer from France. But again, I have never ordered something from them (and it could be, that it's France only), but they did have some fair prices for the RTX 4090.
  22. No real advises for shops, but are you aware of the fact that for the 7900X you'll need a new mobo and new ram too? If the rig is mainly designed for flight simming I would wait for the X3D series. AMD didn't do any good with the 7000 series so far. But after all, it your choice. No intent to convince you
  23. This! I had the exact same issue. Lowering textures to medium was the solution. There is also a 2k cockpit textures mod that is sopposed to solve the problem.
  24. Not at all. While I have lost around 10% performance, I am still able to achieve 45 FPS steady with high preset (just low low level overhead Beirut at dawn with rain on I am struggling a bit).
