Useless weapons!. I was testing last weeks the BetAB-500ShPon Runways and Aircraftshelters [bunkers] with the Su 25,Su25T and Su 27.Flight conditions: no wind unlimited visibility and no clouds! Using CCRP withaltitudes between 200mtrs and 1500mtrs and speeds between 500 km\phr and1000km\phr with No bank and No slip {yaw}!The results were terrible No directhits all impacts were 50 mtr to 80 mtrs off ! where possible i tried to use thecamera for target designations but that made no difference ! Using ccip is alsono option ! Now i understand why it is not possible to load this type of weaponon the Su33 ! because it is useless !

I just have experience with the Su-27, but CCIP is much more precise than CCRP.

I would always miss targets using CCRP, and hit them using CCIP.

Yeah, looks useless alright.

Well, in that video, when he tries to bomb at the "X" of the two runways, the bomb misses by a big margin, which is what OP is describing.

& he says, "If you use it from higher altitudes in windy conditions, it can be inaccurate"

Which isn't surprising given that it hangs on a parachute,

Drop it using CCRP from lower down. (Yes - dangerous, but that's exactly why these type of weapons are out of favour.)

Cheers.

It's a high drag bomb, i.e it does not follow a consistent trajectory. You must aim ahead of where you want to hit and allow for that. This weapon does not NEED to be accurate, you're aiming at a two mile long runway. As for bunkers, if you drop it DIRECTLY above the target it should hit fine. The parachute is to buy you time to clear the blast radius. Think about that a second. That's how low you need to be.

This post falls under the heading of 'read the manual' and 'know what weapon you're using'. Not all weapons have the same characteristics.

Watched the video without the sound at work :)

Together with the content of your signature, this remark is not very flattering for the topic poster i.m.o.

Now, it happens that I know him very well and by that I also know that he is somebody who reads all the manuals through and through and study the weapons he uses before posting a topic about it.

I also know that he once flew the "real thing" (F104 and others) and was even a test pilot of her.... and therefore certainly is not ignorant about using weapons etc. :)

I.m.o. remarks of the kind you make should be made a bit more "holding back" I think!

Best regards, Willem
