Nosferatuwhisky 1-1 Posted January 30, 2018 Posted January 30, 2018 IDK if I've spelled that correctly, but I've seen in videos of the SU27/33 the canards moving independently of the elevators, how is this done? I want to get into the FC3 birds a little bit more and the 33 is just so sexy haha "Chops"
mvsgas Posted January 30, 2018 Posted January 30, 2018 IDK if I've spelled that correctly, but I've seen in videos of the SU27/33 the canards moving independently of the elevators, how is this done? I want to get into the FC3 birds a little bit more and the 33 is just so sexy haha AFAIK, canards on Sukhoi family aircraft (SU-30MK, SU-32, SU-33) are not to control pitch. They are suppose to help airflow at high alpha. Like the small "strakes" of the Mirage 2000 or the "winglets" of the Mirage IIIS ( I know these do not move). To whom it may concern, I am an idiot, unfortunately for the world, I have a internet connection and a fondness for beer....apologies for that. Thank you for you patience. Many people don't want the truth, they want constant reassurance that whatever misconception/fallacies they believe in are true..
Flow Posted January 30, 2018 Posted January 30, 2018 The Su-27 does not have the canards, just the Su-33. i7 7700k • 1080Ti • 32GB @ 3200 MHz • 525GB M.2 • Oculus Rift Warthog + Pro Flight
probad Posted January 30, 2018 Posted January 30, 2018 (edited) the canards moving independently of the elevators, how is this done? unlike canards on the rafale or typhoon the canards on the su-33 are not actuated but are designed to maintain constant orientation into the airflow. they're not for directly effecting attitude changes but rather to aid stability at high aoas Edited January 30, 2018 by probad
