BlacleyCole Posted February 2, 2018 Posted February 2, 2018 ok ive a dumb question can anyone tell me if you can edit missions in anything other than the mission editor? i know people are using notepad ++ to edit the lua files but what then cut and paste in the mission editor? i would like to print out missions to learn from them that way wi can make notes on the page something im not able to do in the mission editor except comments above and after the line(s) of code. ESAc_matador Posted February 3, 2018 Posted February 3, 2018 What people makes is the scripting in a lua file then attach via load script file. You can also use the do script.... and write the script directly. Not recomended.
BlacleyCole Posted February 3, 2018 Author Posted February 3, 2018 That’s what I was afraid of now to learn the mission editor then lua for dcs plus learn to fly correctly and the aircraft systems see you in a year BlackeyCole 20years usaf XP-11. ESAc_matador Posted February 3, 2018 Posted February 3, 2018 Yes. With the mission editor.you can do lots of things, and I mean a lot. Scripting gives you options to do things that in the ME does not exist, and after time saves you time because you just need to copy and paste... BUT. I DONT SEE HOW TO START SCRIPTIING IF YOU DONT LNOW WHAT YOU CAN SCRIPT. So first read the manual and do short missions, understand the trigger, the zones, the possibilities. Then you can mix all up with scripting
feefifofum Posted February 4, 2018 Posted February 4, 2018 Agreed. The built in GUI is pretty intuitive. Get in there and get experimenting, ask questions or check the manual when you hit a bump and you'll get help, but there's no "magic" file that will show you everything. LUA is totally optional. It can save you some time vs. the built in scripting tools but it's not something you need to worry about except in some very specific circumstances. Expect it to take a significant investment of your personal time and energy to learn and understand everything. Look how long people hang around here. THE GEORGIAN WAR - OFFICIAL F-15C DLC
ESAc_matador Posted February 4, 2018 Posted February 4, 2018 Most of us mission editors, spend more time editing than flying
feefifofum Posted February 4, 2018 Posted February 4, 2018 Sad but true. THE GEORGIAN WAR - OFFICIAL F-15C DLC
