TooTubular Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 I've been working on a flight chair to add to the immersion, and have a consistent setup. The only way I've ever flown was with the stick right in the middle, either on a table, or between my legs. For ease of setup, I was going to build some platforms on the side of the chair, and just use an F-16 type config. After I got a makeshift prototype done, I hopped on a few sims to give it a whirl. I found it damn near impossible to fly like that. Everything seemed a bit harder to control, and I definitely didn't feel in tune with any plane. What gives? For one, I have no idea of the dimensions I should follow. Where exactly is the stick supposed to sit, and at what angle? Does anyone know where I can find info like this? Is it best to fly planes in Lomac with the stick in the crotch position or does it even make a difference? Can you fly sidestick?
urze Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 Maybe the "SimLight" of an German F-16 pit builder is the right for you. http://www.xflight.de/f16/pe_sim_sml.htm You will also find detailed plans of a f-16 pit on his page. http://www.xflight.de/f16/ Leftside Limited - ideas and solutions
TooTubular Posted February 15, 2007 Author Posted February 15, 2007 Thanks. I see you have a setup as well. Looking at your HOTAS, did you just go for what felt best? They are slightly angled outwards. Did you have to get used to sidestick, or did it feel natural?

LawnDart Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 Ruggbutt, The Akers-Barnes pit consists of two separate pieces when put together, but appear as one tight fit. So, essentially the back half is your chair... :smilewink: [sigpic]http://www.virtualthunderbirds.com/Signatures/sig_LD.jpg[/sigpic] Virtual Thunderbirds, LLC | Sponsored by Thrustmaster Corsair 750D Case | Corsair RM850i PSU | ASUS ROG MAXIMUS X CODE | 32GB Corsair DDR4 3200 | Intel i7-8086K | Corsair Hydro H100i v2 Cooler | EVGA GTX 1080 Ti FTW | Oculus Rift | X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty | Samsung SSD 970 EVO 1TB NVMe | Samsung SSD 850 EVO 1TB | WD Caviar Black 2 x 1TB | TM HOTAS Warthog | TM Pendular Rudder | TM MFD Cougar Pack | 40" LG 1080p LED | Win10 |
Aeroscout Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 lol. I kike these. Rioght now, I fly side stick, but if i ever make my own pit, i'll make it center stick. (More realistic for lockon.) DCS Wishlist: 1) FIX THE DAMN RIVERS!!! 2) Spherical or cylindrical panorama view projection. 3) Enhanced input options (action upon button release, etc). 4) Aircraft flight parameter dump upon exit (stick posn, attitude, rates, accel, control volume, control-surface positions, SAS bias, etc). 5) ADS-33 maneuver courses as static objects. 6) Exposed API or exports of trim position and stick force for custom controllers. 7) Select auto multiple audio devices
LawnDart Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 You don't get it.
